Just because I want to see Blue go crazy... What is so great about Megaman music ? I mean a few of the pieces are NICE, but IMHO most just aren't too special. /watches my back for knives. Cypher

I never said any of the Mega Man music was bad per se, just "not that special". It just does not evoke any feeling in me. What I am asking, is why you guys (that think Mega Man is the tops music-wise) like it. Like other than just being "cool" or sounding good, does it do something to you when you listen to it that makes you feel something? Im not dogging it, I just want to know exactly what makes it special to you. Cypher

How long have you lived under this rock? Listen to every theme from Megaman X, then come back and whine about MM music. No, I'm not going to stab you with a knife, but I am disappointed that a composer as great as you cannot see the special quality of said music.

Some aren't that great, but others are amazing. The Mega Man series has some of the best video game music:
Especially Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 9 and Mega Man X.
Wily Stage 1 from Mega Man 2 and Flash in the Dark and We're the Robots from Mega Man 9 are some of my favourites.

Listen, RPG music (which, judging from your compsitions, you like) is supposed to be different than Mega Man music. RPG music is meaningful and symphonic, while Mega Man music is upbeat and fun. So, it may not bring emotion, but it does make you hum to the tune, bop around a bit, and generally, have fun while you play.
Plus, most mega man music works better while you're actually playing the game.
Edit: Post 250. I apparently don't have anything better to do.

That's a good way to put it. If you haven't listened to the Megaman 3 intro, you must. It gets stuck in your head!

I must say: I'm not too impressed by the Mega Man series, music-wise. There are some gems, sure, but I like backbeated, symmetrical percussion too much to like most MM songs. (I can't stand Gemini Man. Or Shadow Man. Or anything from the original series past III, to be honest.)
Mega Man X brought the series into the 16-bit musical era, but still leaves me wanting more sometimes. There are great ones -- Storm Eagle, Boomer Kuwanger, Flame Mammoth from MMX (I don't really like Spark Mandrill), but... it's just music. It's nothing to worship.

I DON'T worship it. Call me a Megaman freak all you wish, the music is great. Maybe 4-8 aren't good examples of this, but really...
The Megaman X soundtrack, Megaman 2, Megaman 3, Megaman 4, Megaman X2-8, they're all good.
I find FF music extremely repetitive, which I don't find in MM music. I mean... All the songs are pixelated... That's all they have in common.
I love the music, and any good MPCer should, it's one of the great pioneers of VG music and has aged very well.

I'll listen to it some more. Just wanted to know what made it special to the people who love it. I never was dogging it, its just not at the top of my list. However, I do enjoy seeing it on MPC.

Also admittedly, I haven't listened to all of it. Just usually what has been posted on MPC. If i was going to listen to 1 Mega Man song, which should it be?

Dr. Wily Stage 1. Yeah, that's not overused or anything.
If you were to listen to a Mega Man song, do the MMIII intro. Starts off melodically, followed by a repeating ACTION! segment.

I have listened to both of these and I like them both. I really like the MM2 Dr. Wily stage 1. I guess I was premature in my judgement. It just seems like a lot of MPC mega man music coming out lately I did not care too much for, but I definitely gonna give this series music a deeper look.

I'm glad that we are in agreement, and I hope you enjoy further analysis of the music.
