Flash in the Dark and We're the Robots from Mega Man 9 are some of the best Mega Man songs. You should listen to them if you liked Wily Stage 1.

16-bit Mega Man sucks 8-bit Mega Man rules
There, I said it.
Music wise though, I think that most of the music in 16 bit is just as good as the 8-bit music.

Not X1-3 though. They were good (and the ones with the best music in the X series), but from there, things go downhill. MM7/8/&Bass were bad. Nowhere near as good as the 8 bit games.

Megaman X is maybe the best game in the series(besides maybe Megaman 2). It also has by far the best music.
