i29.tinypic.com/2s0kzl1.jpgThis was an actual e-mail from YouTube. Numb has >273,000 views at the moment. One, I don't know why others such as Levus, Axelrod, or Tiger asked about this. Two, I don't really need to do this, but... Yet here is where the problem is. For the past hour, I've been looking up Copyright laws to see if it would be protected. If it is, I would go through with it. If it isn't I'm not going to. Reason? THEY'LL DELETE THE VIDEO. This is my most viewed video. I no longer have the txt files or the original video. If this is deleted, I don't know what I would do. The thing that started this fear was GeoffNET's YMCA being removed. That started the entire debate about whether an MPComposition could be under protection. For some information, YouTube Partners make $2-5 for every 1,000 views; Numb earns ~600 views a day at the moment. I'm in college, so money is tight. I don't have a job yet, and for my degree, I need all the time in the world for projects and homework (at least 40 hrs a week leter in the program). This would help me a little financially. Sure it wouldn't be a lot , but it would be something. Please, if you have any information about Copyright/a clause I could use, post it. I would do this now, but I'm too worried about the negative consequences. If people don't want me to do it, I won't. I'm leaving this up to you. ~buckyboy [EDIT] ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Thanks for all the congrats but I'm a little worried more about whether or not I can do it without copyright interfering.

On one hand, if Youtube is asking YOU for a partnership, then they obviously aren't worried about copyright infringement. On the other hand, they could most likely v& you for copyright infringement according to their terms of service or w/e.

Congrats on this; you certainly deserved it! I am at a loss for words at how awesome this is for you. Common sense says that since YT is making money they wouldn't dare take it down. However, (lol conspiracy, ignore this part) they might use this as a gateway to get at other mpcs, and perhaps mpc itself. But that's unlikely I say do it! EDIT: Congrats to Rehd as well ;D

Accept the invite! You don't HAVE to monetize that video. Also, a big middle finger to the person who viewed my application.

I FORGOT I HAVE USEFUL ADVICE LIKE, REALLY USEFUL K HERE GOES I uploaded a YTP a couple weeks ago on my alt account. I got an email saying that I possibly infringed Viacom. (which made me ANGRY) The video was disabled (which made it come up with a "This video was removed because of a copyright claim by Viacom" notice appear when you tried to watch the video). I sent in a copyright dispute form, so it will stay up now. None of the views or comments or anything else were deleted when the video was disabled and restored. And also, if they're sending you an INVITATION, that obviously means they know you're not infringing anything. You don't need to worry. Like we talked about in Chatzy, this could be considered a 'cover', and also according to some Creative Commons stuff, your video would not be against the law because it's original. You made it. Just because you didn't make the original song and you didn't make MPC doesn't mean you would be infringing their companies. If this were the case, we would all be banz0red off of Youtube. I say, don't worry. This could be a great idea. You'll get money and you'll get more views being a Partner. This could help raise the popularity of MPC videos too. Did anyone else get a request? Because it looks like both of those were sent at almost the same time.

Hrm... I read the fine print and realized that I'm not eligible for it since I'm not 18 yet. Oh well.

Hrm... I read the fine print and realized that I'm not eligible for it since I'm not 18 yet. Oh well. Unlike Rehd ( ), I am 18, and I've decided to apply. I'll have to wait for about a week before I get a response. If it's accepted, ads will be shown in the video. If not, then I'll receive an e-mail stating that the video will be taken down. I'm hoping for the former... Thanks for all the support! Here's hoping more talented MPC'ers get the chance!

Even though my YT account (and all other accounts I make online, except for things like school websites) say I'm over 18, that's for security purposes to prevent ID theft. Of course, this creates problems like the partnership thing here today.

Try this: create a new account in the name of a family member and "attach" yours to it when you apply.

YouTube works in strange ways
I'm a bit confused why they regarded The Impact Site as popular, as Levus, Axelrod and Cat get about 3-5000 views in one day, as compared to 1000 in a week.
Also, if Linkin Park or their record label really wanted to, they could get Buckyboy's Numb removed, regardless of copyright law, so I'd suggest downloading an mp4 of it (YouTube now allows people to download mp4s of their own videos, under 'My Videos').

I'm assuming that Cat, Levus, and Axelrod are all under 18, right? So that makes sense as to why they didn't get asked to be partners.

I can't help but think that it's an automated message sent out by Youtube whenever a video hits a certain amount of views within a certain time. However, the worst I think will happen is that you won't be accepted, so why not try it out.

I'm unbelievably jealous. The only reason they sent BB and Rehd invitations was because their accounts are listed as 18+. Cat, if I'm not mistaken you were only 17 when you applied, right? Maybe youtube is starting to realize that MPC is really popular on youtube these days. Sigh, 2 years and 3.5 months and then I'm fuggin applying. Hopefully I'll have built up a partner-worthy account by then. BB, if you take this and become the first MPCer to be a partner.....well.......

My account is set to 18. I haven't had an invite.
Which doesn't make sense, I get over 4000 overall views on my videos, daily. I upload about once a month. I have a video that's got 2.8million views.
I think I might try to apply, the worst they can do is say no.

However, the worst I think will happen is that you won't be accepted, so why not try it out. That's my opinion too That is a good point. I forgot about the automated messages. As for my age, I turned 18 back in December and I've applied at least three times since then. Do you think it has anything to do with those "copyright strikes"?
