Several times now, today, I've seen messages that sound like one of the following, in all manner of contexts:
"You're definitely a skilled Mario Painter (alt. MPer), and I can't wait to see what else you do!"
"I was busy all weekend making Mario Paints"
Stop it, okay? If you use this terminology, quit now. Pay attention:
Mario Paint COMPOSER has NOTHING to do with PAINTING.
A person who uses some form of MPC is a MPCer (Mario Paint Composer). Arrangements on MPC are called... Arrangements in MPC. Or potentially MPCs (Mario Paint Compositions -- not to be used in same chain of thought as Mario Paint ComposER.)
I am getting sick of people being called Mario Painters, okay? They/We are COMPOSERS, or perhaps ARRANGERS, but not PAINTERS.
That is all.

I don't believe it does.

Great. Well, that means that
- Leonardo da Vinci was a Canvasser. He uses canvasses, right?
- Glenn Curtiss was a Winger. He designed wings, right?
- Axl Rose is a Band-er. He's in a band, right?
No, they were an Artist, Aeronautical Engineer, and Singer respectively. And a person who uses Mario Paint isn't a "Painter" just because of what they do their work on. They are a Composer.
So, yes, it does[/u] matter.

- Axl Rose is a Band-er. He's in a band, right? A bander ;D. Sorry, that's just funny. You're making a big deal out of something inconspicuous, man. I'd just ignore it. Whether I'm a Mario "painter" or a Mario "composer" doesn't make me any less of a hobbier by any means .

Sheesh, when you mention how something so simple and unimportant is so bothersome and annoying to you, it's just begging to be abused for the sake of seeing you get mad. Seriously, you're making a mountain out of a molehill, so to speak.

Hey. At least they don't say you're painting marios. lol XD But really, you're the admin of the MARIO PAINT HANGOUT. Why would you even start a thread like this? You should respect our opinions. This and the "Dead Fad" topic are a little... what's the word... ironic? You shouldn't be complaining about what we call these things, it's just what we call them! If you're tl;dr, if you respect and support MPC, respect and support the people that use it.

I don't support people who use the musical function of SNESMP calling themselves painters when they aren't making visual art.

Well, I *could* explain.
When Composers calling themselves "painters" they refer to their use of the program MPC, that is Mario Paint Composer.
Consider it a new word. A new word that means Mario Paint Composers or Compositions, for painters and paints respectively.
Another thing that I like to add to the above statement is that it is obviously a word separate from the actual word "paint/er" which means a visual art/artist; because we use the word "paints" instead of "paintings".
That is all I have to say for now.

Hold on, this is a real argument over something pedantic as this?
Despite the apparent triviality of names and titles, they do matter. It's a bit like Ms. and Mrs. as they are both female, but one is married. Equally, MPers and MPCers both create music, but one uses Mario Paint Composer. Both being married and using Mario Paint Composer are completely different from being unmarried and using Mario Paint. I certainly know I would be offended (IF I were girl) if I was married and someone called me Ms. Celano.
However, keep in mind that we can standardize all we want, but the vernacular is something that takes a bit longer and perhaps needs some popularization of it. However, I have and always use Composer, compositions, and MPCs when referring to Mario Paint Composer.

I see your point but: is there not a difference between a painter and a mario painter?

Good points, Kace...but the fact that Ms. doesn't specify marital status leaves your analogy in the dust, I'm afraid.
I think this debate is turning extremely silly. Who cares if it's Mario Paints or Mario Paint Compositions? Who cares if its Resident Evil or Biohazard? Who cares if its Mother 2 or Earthbound? It makes NO difference at all, they all have the same definition. I've not seen a single person get confused with that name before, so what's the problem with it?
