The most common conception is that TomBobBlender was the first person to have use Mario Paint on YouTube. Or should I say misconception.
Let's look: Tom's first Mario Paint video, Mario Paint - Music Merengue, was submitted March 5, 2007. His first original remix, being of the Tetris theme, was also submitted that day.
Now I would like to direct your attention to the following user: oyan55. This user's first video (or at least the oldest one still on his/her channel) follows:
Date submitted: October 05... 2006!?!
WOW!
I was shocked when I saw this date. I was even more shocked at how good some of this user's songs are (especially for being the only Mario Painter on the site at the time), such as:
In my opinion many of these videos are better than TomBobBlender's earliest videos. Any thoughts? Or CONSPIRACY THEORIES!?!

This is why I never called TBB the FIRST user of SNESMP on YT, because I knew he wasn't the oldest. People have been using that program since the 90s -- it was only to be expected that someone would have uploaded their works on YouTube. TBB's main claim to fame is that NP article, which would have gotten exposed to probably a few hundred thousand people. I still want to see it, if anyone knows where a copy of the article can be found, or has that issue and can scan it into the computer...

I have the issue, and admittedly that's how it all began for me in regards to Mario Paint. I'll see what I can do in finding and scanning it. EDIT: I found it, but I think it would take MUCH less time for me to re-type the article than to scan and uplaod it. It's a paragraph long, takes up 1/6 of a page, and is only accompanied by a picture of an early frame of TBB's MM2 Wily Stage 1 Remix video. I'll start a new topic and post the paragraph article if you like this plan instead. Listening to some of this user's longer pieces, they are quite awesome! Though I recognise very few of them, they sound great and are several minutes long! HOW DID NO ONE DISCOVER THIS PERSON BEFORE (or at least point them out to the community)? ... DANGIT NOW I GOT THAT STUPID CROCODILE SONG IN MY HEAD! AngryCrocodileP you silly tiger.  |

About the MPC thing, I know Tiger wasn't first to create something, because the official support forum (on UnFun Games' site) has posts from July of 2007.

Funny thing is, YouTube actually helped me. Not only does it have a way to sort videos by upload date, but it has an oldest uploaded date also. Coinciedentely, I have found both the first Mario Paint song and MPC song posted to YouTube. This one was posted on February 25, 2006!? This certainly isn't the place to put it (sorry, can't find the thread), but here is the first MPC composition currently on YouTube, beating Cat's by one day. www.youtube.com/watch?v=o47Ms7clcosNeither of these user's have ever posted another song again of course. And I think the MP is just the demo song. |

Wow Kace, I sent that Piano Duet song to Cat on YouTube an hour ago. I guess we both noticed the "Sort by Oldest" tab recently added, and decided to get to the bottom of this "who's first" business once and for all. If AngryTiger's video hadn't have been removed, it would still be the oldest, right? |
