This is directed at both composers and aficionados. What drew you toward Mario Paint? How did you find out about it? What caused you to try out the program? In brevity, heed the title question -- how did you get into Mario Paint? I accidentally stumbled onto the program by seeing one of TomBobBlender's compositions; I'm not sure exactly which one or what I was looking up at the time (maybe The Road is Full of Dangers), but once I heard it I was immediately impressed. I then found and heard a couple more of TomBob's videos and also HCBailly's, despite me not having ever played a Final Fantasy game other than FFIV at that time. Like many enthusiasts, I was extremely impressed by the compositions. Then I found out about HCBailly's tutorial videos, watched them, and subsequently downloaded Composer from UnFun Games. When I opened Composer up for the first time, I had NO idea what I was going to create, no plan whatsoever. Somehow it became Dialga/Palkia Battle; I don't know how and I don't know why. Dialga/Palkia took around 6 hours to make, and afterward I created a Youtube account. I scribbled a bass clef in about 10 seconds which I used for an avatar. Not grandiose, but I still like it. Dialga/Palkia got almost immediate acclaim... ...and the rest is history.

Stumbled upon TBB's Mega Man II Dr. Wily's Castle. I got MPC because I couldn't find my copy of MP on the SNES. My first songs were transcriptions of MMIIDW (based on TBB's- I had never heard it before). Then... I made a Top Man video by ear. The rest is... crap, I just noticed Brian said that already.

Ahh, the good ol' days! Back when the original Mario Paint was more popular and there weren't very many videos. I actually stumbled on TomBobBlender's account and started watching some videos. After some searches, I found more interesting videos. What really got me into it was this: No Videos found for “pokemon mario paint”There were absolutely no Mario Paint Pokémon videos. I decided to look around and found MarioSequencer, which was close to the original. I started to create videos and added stuff to my older YouTube account. Later I found Mario Paint Composer, which was amazing. As time passed, my videos started getting lots of hits, and I didn't know why. Maybe it was a "Mario Paint Renaissance"? Anyway, I continued to make videos. Currently, I have 5 videos exceeding 100,000 hits, and 4 are Mario Paint videos. At least I can say I posted the first Pokémon song in Mario Paint/Composer/Sequencer! www.youtube.com/watch?v=shtIW7KBFZw

My first vid was posted the day I created my profile, so... March 23, 2007.
EDIT: I just searched Youtube for Mario Paint. The earliest Composer vid I could find was done in August. So... I think I can say that I was officially the first person to use Mario Paint Composer on Youtube.
Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Like everyone said before I saw a TomBobBlender video off of some website, and started watching a bunch of videos. But I never got around to getting the composer until about 2-3 months later, and then it was still another month before I could get anything manageable out of it. And that was the same day that my account was created.
And the rest is about two months...
(angrytigerp: on your videos it says the earliest was Sept 1 07, but that is probably just youtube)

That's because I deleted my first version of Sparkman and my first vid (Top Man). I don't know why...

It was pretty much because of 3 videos that inspired me; 1. Bohemian Rhapsody 2. Paintroll'd 3. Dragonforce
I thought, "hey, I should be doing these!"

I forget what made me go "ogmfggjdsi, I should do this ". Maybe I thought that, after seeing some of the mario paint videos, I thought I could do it and you know... be known for something. Plus I wanted to fill in some of the songs that were missing.

I stumbled across a Mario Paint video of FFVII's "J-E-N-O-V-A", and then FFIX's "The Final Battle", FFVI's "Decisive Battle" by nycer4lyfe, and then a bunch by HCBailly; I was hooked on those videos. I thought, "That is AWESOME! ...I could totally do something like this, too!" And I looked up "Mario Paint Program" on google, found out about MPC, and then started thinking, "what song should I make, then...?", and that's how I started.

I could help with your recording problems. (It's best to ask on the weekend, BTW.)

I read about TBB in Nintendo Power, and then I checked him out. I was really impressed by what he could do to all of these awesome video game songs, but I was even more impressed with all of those limitations he had to deal with but still surpassed. I thought "That looks really fun, but I can't work with those kinds of limits!". Then I found Mario Paint Composer. I believe it was one of Cat's Pokemon videos that I saw first. A simple Google search (why can't other people do this instead of asking me with a pm?) revealed it to be a free and easy download. Most of the songs I completed in the few weeks prior I uploaded the day I got a video capturing device, and I streadily improved upon my methods. And... well... here I am ;D Fun fact: I once left a comment on one of Cat's videos asking how to make flats/sharps. He ignored me I then proceeded to figure it out for myself.

In speaking of asking people about how to do things... I think I remember PMing you about increasing tempo to >500 (I know that it was the result of watching a <500 BPM Gerudo Valley vid, and I was like: Oh, yeah, here's how you do quote boxes: Put this: [qquote] place your text, then [/qquote]. Remove the extra 'Q's so the boxes say 'quote'. For example: [qquote]THIS IS AN EXAMPLE QUOTE; THE EXTRA Qs ARE THERE[/qquote]

I made a lot of short mario paint songs since I was a child in my SNES (when the saints go marching in, jingle bells n´stuff), I used to record them on tape before deleting the data to create a new song, and then like year and a half ago finding Tombobblender´s channel was very inspirational.
