How it works: Like Rate the Composer, Battle of the Composers uses a point system, where people have 5 nomination points counted towards active members of the MPH forums. The top two nominated will battle it out with either their best composition or a 1-2 minute composition of their own if they so choose. Battles will take place beginning Monday, and will end Sunday night, where a poll will determine who was the better composer of the two for that week. L3t t3h n0mz b3g1nz! Edit: Alright, since I don't want any bad vibes going around since coincidentally rcplanes59 came up with a simliar contest idea a few days ago, he gets credit for the original idea, and I do encourage his participation too .

If I'm understanding this, those who are nominated can't be nominated for the next 3 rounds to be fair to the other competitors. Basically, Evil Grimace can't keep pwning everyone every week, lol, although that would be interesting ;D. Nah, its all good, thanks for bringing that up. As host, I'm not nominating anyone, I'm only tallying the numbers and posting the results, etc.

*cough* fogive the double posting...
Well, a snafu occured when RC brought up another thread he made a few days ago that I wasn't even aware of. Since the title of this is exactly like his, it's a bad coincidence that this happened. I'll have to put this on hold until we figure out a new name for this, or clear things up with Tiger.

You can call it Weekly Challenge, or something like that.

RC & Tiger: Battle of the Composers has been changed to Weekly Composer Challenge, is that cool? I think that won't confuse those who replied to the other thread in the Contests board. Major apologies to RC, that was unintentional and coincidental that I came up with a name that was exactly like yours .

So the nominated people don't got to compose another song? And one more thing, the 'battle' will just be a poll that asks which of the two's compositions are better or will it be something a bit different? I like this competition Nomininations: +4 theEvilGrimace +1 me There, nine a piece.

Nominated people have the option of composing a short piece, about one to two minutes in length, if they feel like showcasing their mad sk1llz, ya know? If Guru and Evil Grimace faced off in the first round, they could make a quick song and could be judged by that without a problem.

And if only one is able to make a song?
PS I am sorry, I am just a very rule/regulation oriented person. I don't like loopholes.

If one makes a song from scratch, yet the other doesn't, then that song won't be counted, we'll simply revert to the best of that composer's list. It's not a serious deadline of sorts, but I do encourage creativity among competitors .

I quite like the idea of two selected composers composing a selected song then the people vote on which on they prefer.
But blah I digress.
