Maybe you should check the text file to see if it uses the correct syntax. The first time that I edited a text file, I ran into a huge - button on the staff. It freaked me out and dissuaded me from doing any more text file editing with my MPC's.
I'm probably the biggest wuss ever for being afraid of a simple glitch. At least yours wasn't even readable enough to bring nightmares of large negative buttons. *shrivels back into a corner*
