My uncle came over today and told me that his friend gave him some music-making program called "Band in a Box," and that he would give me a copy.
First off, does anybody know what this program is? I've never heard of it.
Secondly, is it any good? Depending on how good this is, it may be the program that I'll be using during my college experience.

I remember one music teacher telling me about this. It seems like it's preloaded stuff...

Band-In-A-Box is incredibly amazing. It is for PC and Mac, and has been around for a very, very long time. I have been using it for YEARS, and for a variety of music purposes.
Basically, BIAB is literally how it sounds: a band in a box. You select a musical style (you can purchase/download TONS of additional styles), you tell it what key you would like to work in. You can generate a chord progression in a variety of ways: chord letters (CM, A7, D+7, etc.) roman numerals (I, iv, VII, etc.), solfeggio (Do, Mi, Sol, etc.), or just tell the program to generate one for you. Then, it will completely improvise a bassline, harmony and melody, without you doing a thing. You can tell it to change to any key, and it will whip up an amazing chord sequence to get you there. You can record a melody over it, and it will harmonize to it. You can transpose on the fly, and add intros, fillers, outros, bridges, etc. It's terrific to play a live solo instrument against for practicing purposes, or to explore other musical styles.
I hope this helps!
