The radio stations in New York City are terrible. At the moment, only TWO are devoted to rock music, one being a solid classic rock station and the other playing a variety of rock music (a good chunk of it, however, isn't mainstream, and sometimes the obscurity can get annoying). The other two former rock ststaions in the New York metropolitan area played modern music, but they've since turned into shitty hip-hop stations >_>. So I need your help. Tell me if there are any good mainstream/alternative/hard rock stations near you, and I'll see if I can stream it from the internet or my I-Pod.

I'm sorry that I can't tell you a specific radio station, but if you have an iPod then just go onto iTunes and into the radio section on the left. It's basically every music radio station listed by genre so if you just browse a bit then I'm sure you'll find something.

Well, what kind of rock? Progressive rock would be 104.5, and classic rock would be 102.9. All of this being from Philadelphia, of course.

If you can get DC stations, 101.1 is THE BEST Yesterday they played Resistance and Sweet Child o' Mine back to back. Can it get any better than that? No, it can't.

I'm basing it off the iheartradio app on my I-Pod. As of now I can access 104.5, and DC101, which is what I'm assuming you're talking about. I'm really just looking for a decent alternative to what I got here, because the variety here is limited. /epic word salad o.O

As far as Phoenix goes, we have 100.7 (Classic Rock), 97.9 (Modern Rock), 93.3 (Rock)
By your description, it seems like 93.3 is more the type you're looking for, because they do more mainstream stuff, even though it's a mixed bag between newer and older. Haven't listened to that one in a while so I don't really remember how their rotation typically is.
If 93.3 doesn't work then 97.9 might.

104.5 has a bizarre playlist o.O. They not only played a blatantly edited version of Epic (They cut half of both solos), but they transitioned into it with David Gray's Babylon (which, if you don't know, is hardcore mellow mom-rock music). DC101 is definitely better, although they dont have any real DJs from what I heard :/. Awesome playlist though.
