As most of you already know, there is a virus going around the internet that fakes the use of virus protection software known as the "Vista Internet Security Virus." Well I had gotten it about 5 weeks ago and was waiting for my taxes to come in so I could pay to get it fixed (Had no restore points so I could D.I.Y). During the whole time I had quarantined my computer from the rest of my devices and shut it down for a little more than a month.
Well, today I was going to back up my software so I could take my computer to the Geek Squad so I could get it fixed, but to my surprise the virus was no where to be found. It didn't show itself like it usually does. I did a full computer scan with McAfee and it detected the virus and quarantined it.
I had gotten rid of the virus by doing NOTHING AT ALL! (cue Ned Flanders)
If any of you have had this virus before, or had just gotten recently (and are like me and too lazy to try and fix it ASAP), then just keep your computer continuously off for more than a month (I recommend 5-6 weeks) and then do a full computer scan with a program like McAfee or Norton.
HOWEVER!
THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK! It just worked for me.
I thank you for your time. You may now resume your normal activities.

McAfee? That sucks. Avast is better, even if it can be annoying.
