Since we all love music and we all love games, we must also love music games? Which of the two competing Music games do you prefer?

I love GH2, 80s, and to an extent, 3. But Aerosmith, On Tour, and World Tour have killed the franchise in my eyes. RB1 has a strong songlist that grows stronger with DLC and RB2 looks like it'll be awesome. So yeah, Rock Band.

I actually don't like the inclusion of the drums and vocals because songs are no longer catered to the guitar part. The sum of these four parts actually inhibits the growth of the franchise in its difficulty and entertainment value. With the guitar for example, there are lots of power chords or the same sort of riff over and over in each tiresome chorus, whereas there used to be more solos and fun things to play.
Don't get me wrong; playing the drums and singing is a lot of fun, and they certainly did a good job when designing the mechanics for each of these parts. Having multiplayer bands also makes the game fun. However, single player is hurt by these new parts; I think the series should once again cater to one particular aspect. Perhaps four separate games - one based on guitar, one on bass, etc. - that each of the other elements can still participate in. Then everything can be merged together for one truly amazing experience.
My vote? Guitar Hero 3 was the first in either series that I've played, and I can pinpoint the date in which I opened the package (its release day is the same as my DOB). Therefore, I still choose the Guitar Hero series.
