As you may have noticed, our forum has recently been plagued with spambots. I can recall about 5 or 6 times in the past week where this or this has happened. Remember, do not click on any of the words that are in posts like those above as they most likely contain viruses and/or hax your docs. We admins are deleting those posts (I've actually moved one or two to the holding pen for reference) and banning the IPs on sight. If you see anything like the examples above, immediately notify an Admin (Levi, Tiger, Weejay, Cat, Rehd, Winter, brianLED, myself, and apparently Lolo as well) and we will take care of it right away.

Not sure if this will help at all, but is there a way you can block guests from posting, and make people have to sign up to post? I noticed the most recent one was a guest, so that's why I thought making people sign up to post would work. If not, then it might at least make it a bit harder to do the spam. I don't know, maybe there's something I'm missing.

Yes there is a setting that can be easily changed to do exactly that. Of course, I don't exactly know how everyone else feels about that, so I don't want to do anything just yet.
And yes, all the bots have been non-registered guests.

I agree with Rusty. No one really needs to use guest often (or at all).

Making the settings so that only registered users can post would be the most logical and optimal solution. I think that people only really use guest here if either they can't, or for the sake of expediency if logging in takes too long, which I don't see why it would. Trying to get rid of these spambots is like fighting a ghost with normal type moves, it just doesn't work. (Oh god, I'm making an analogy to Pokemon now! )

Alright it is decided. Non-registered guests and members not logged on will no longer be able to post. If any one (especially the admins) have a problem with this say do. But tbh I am getting tired of these random people posting and those times when you don't got time to logon are rare.
Edit: yes I think I messed with the wrong setting so now you can't even see the board without logging on. My bad. I'm changing it to that non members just can't post.
