As a Thanksgiving Day gift to all of my supporters, fans, and friends, I've made yet another new SoundFont, with this one being a sequel to Mario Paint Real. It is titled Mario Paint Real Symphony and used orchestral instruments. The samples are very long, so this is intended to be used with either the Low A glitch or lowering the volume. I would also like to thank the Mario Paint community for helping me out in deciding what to put into this SoundFont. Download here (16.2 MB): buizel.net/mario/MPRSymphony.sf2To save on download time, I have also put it into a sfArk archive. You must have sfArk installed on your computer to use this download (5.7 MB): buizel.net/mario/MPRSymphony.sfArkTo use the SoundFont, rename your current soundset3.sf2 file in the MPC folder to something else, like "default.sf2". Rename the new file to "soundset3.sf2". If you chose the archived version, decompress it with sfArk, then name the new file "soundset3.sf2". The pieces shown here are: - A remix of my Arceus Battle (Pokémon DPP) - Apologize preview - Levus28's Underwater (SMB)

I knew you could do it. I'm gonna see how this song works with 'I Will Possess Your Heart', with a bit of tweaking it will be perfect.
Thanks for the awesome-freakin-soundset.

I only have one complaint. You should have kept the snare at E and F

The held out flutes and trumpets sound a bit weird, especially the higher notes. Apart from that, this is a fantastic soundfont.

Yeah the trumpets sound a little too... bright, if you know what I mean.

I'll look into the flute and trumpet.

I'm sorry, but I really don't like this. The two main instruments (trumpet and flute) are near unusable, as well as the choir. The precussion is too soft. Some of the instruments (pizzicato strings, tuba) are near useless. The coins sould be clarinet and the stars should be xylophone. And why is there no organ? I think you should release a revision.

True 'dat. It could use a clarinet.

Well, I can't please everybody! The trumpet and flute will get revised but not much else.

I don't think so, it's lacking a low-pitched which is necessary for the counter-melody.

What I have so far; MPC 2.0, Symphony Soundfont:

I have picked out two different pizzicato countermelodies, but I actually think that there's a third -- something sounds incomplete with what I have. Either that, or there's complements to the melody that I can't snatch. The bass is horrendous to determine, but I think I have it (as quiet as it is.)
What do you think of the preview of Cat's SF? And the song, I guess...
EDIT: Yes, the main melody is flute alone. It does sound better that way, yes.

Progress thus far. I just reached the part where the mournful strings kick in. Unfortunately, the SF's string section is an octave too low, so I'm experimenting with instrument combos to see what works.

Nice job Cat.
The percussion is one of the things that keep me glued to this soundfont. If I could add one more to it it'd be the normal hat.

Suggestions:
Use the Yoshi sample on same note as you did in real (D5) the C5 sample sped up sounds awful. The flower should also use the same sample note as you did in real. Just remember to make the notes 4 seconds long like you did with most of these instruments. The dog doesn't sound right in the upper register. Use a slightly higher sample. Make the cat an octave higher and use a slightly higher sample. Make the pig an octave higher (the lowest note on a oboe is Bb3, why go as low as Bb2?) Put the car down one octave. Use a slightly lower bassoon sample. Use two pizzicato samples. One for F3 and one for F4, possibly?

I believe there's a rule on this forum against posting on threads that are very old. The MPH isn't as active as it used to be so it's not like it's hurting much, but I'd advise against it anyway. In this particular case, I know that Cat hasn't posted on this forum in years and has moved on from MPC a long time ago, so I highly doubt he will update his soundfont.
