I never liked Shoddy Battle because... well... there's no love for the Pokemon themselves. I don't feel love for something that I just made REALLY freakin' strong. If that makes sense.
I'll happily battle someone in Pokemon D/P/P though.

I got left behind in the competitive pokemon battling scene. I used to be alright with 3rd generation battling (made it to the semifinal of the Journey Across America event and lost by 3 HP), but I never quite caught on in the 4th generation. I still like the games and series though.

Netbattle Supremacy is where it's at. If any of you were part of 3rd gen's competitive scene, Netbattle was basically in the same position as Shoddy is atm.
I personally don't like the atmosphere of Shoddy's chat rooms. The admins often abuse their power and break the rules that they set. The people that play are often elitists from the Smogon community, who are, at times, really intolerable.
Other than that, if competitive battling is your thing, Shoddy is awesome.

I've been meaning to start battling competitively again and recently installed Shoddy
I think I'm going to wait until HeartGold and SoulSilver are released though, so the metagame will once again change quite a bit
