Ongaku Tsuduru Kanaderu, though entirely in Japanese, is what could have been Mario Composer if Mario Paint focused ONLY on
creating music. All it's missing is the copyrighted plumber and associated symbols. I found it just yesterday while browsing
through gamefaqs.com.
I can't really navigate the menus, so I don't know the complete potential of this thing, but this is all the stuff I was able to
confirm without needing to know Japanese. I am writing a manual for this game, and it will be updated as more features are
discovered. The download link here: www.mediafire.com/?bwwwfjmqb2x
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PRODOMINATE FEATURES:
-8 different sound channels, each with a separate staff.
-128 measures MAX per song (can be MUCH larger than a single Mario Paint file.)
-Conventional Western music notation. Everything in Finale, and then some (I'm serious! I've never heard of having 3rd or 4th
endings in sheet music!).
-A lyric writer: all text goes underneath the staff.
-An eraser without the squeaky noise found in MPC
-An equalizer for dynamics and easy echoes. You can also split sounds to go to the left and right speakers. The screen for this
is pretty self explanitory.
-An enormous range (almost 4 octaves)
-A little stage screen with 16 backgrounds to choose from.
-Key and Time signatures (less worries about sharps and flats!)
Essentially, I see this game as Finale, for SNES.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONTROLS:
-A is the action button. It places, erases, presses buttons and navigates menus
-X and Y navigate between individual notes presented on the screen.
-Holding B allows you to move the cursor more freely, rather than wading through each pitch the 4 octave staff every time you
traverse the screen vertically.
-R and L switch between measures of the song you're working on. (Will definately come in handy for long compositions)
-Start plays what is presented currently on screen.
-Select switches between placing notes and the eraser.
The controls are a little weird, but could become efficient with practice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSSIBLE OTHER FEATURES:
-I'm fairly certain you can save songs, mainly because the developers wouldn't allow you to view only premade songs on the stage screen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS OR MPC?
There's obviously much more differentiating the two programs, I want people to decide if they'd rather this program or stick
with MPC by giving a balanced list of pros and cons.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is just a slightly in-depth look that I took into the game. Please post anything that sounds unclear or any other questions
you have. I'll try my best to word it differently and to ease any confusion.

THIS OR MPC?
OTK: Pros: Longer files Larger default range Many different symbols used to repeat sections, cutting down on composing time and increasing song length Stereo sound More professional looking Cons: Less intuitive interface Lack of mouse control Precision of rhythm is necessary | MPCv2: Pros: Simple interface Mouse control Arranger feature Popular Cartoony aesthetic Cons: 5 note limit (can be bypassed somewhat with dickspeed) Mono Sound Smaller range (can be bypassed with soundfonts) |
