Rules: Nominated competitors can choose either their best song or any song in their arsenal. Once songs have been chosen, a poll will be set up for voting with results shown after each person has voted. People (including the competitors) have 5 nomination points to spend on whomever they want to see battle it out in the next round. In case a competitor isn't a frequent user (ie: doesn't post on the boards), people can nominate a song of theirs and I will determine the final choice as their competition entry.
Good luck.
Buckyboy and Snowdog can be voted again.

This is TomBob's most famous piece (I think). I don't know which one is his best, though.

I agree with the Earthbound Medley for TomBob's piece. It's easily his longest and arguably his most original and detailed. Wonder what kacelano will pick?
+5 for HCBailly

Seriously? No, seriously?
Instead of one of my high tempo songs, I'm picking something a bit older.
Funny story, when I first got MPCV2, I was trying the Arranger tab and I saved over the first file of the song.

Augh, Kacelano! All you had to do was pick ANY song but that... I'll still give you my vote though since you're clearly the better composer.
No noms this week, I don't want to be nominated until OWA is done

I'll still give you my vote though since you're clearly the better composer. That's hard to say. They both go about it in completely different styles. It's really hard to compare the two at all. Anyway, I went with TBB. It could be that it has added value to me since that's the first Mario Paint video I ever saw, but it's super good. Especially for SNESMP.

This is the first "rate the composer" I've paid any attention to, and although I understand the basic concept (though it brings more competition into this community, which I do not exactly approve of, but am willing to have fun with) I think it's a bit flawed.
Seriously: Kace vs TBB?
I couldn't think of a more contrasting pair of composers to compare. What makes this absurd is not that they are both superb at what they do, but what they do is completely different! Are we going to try to compare Weird Al and Bach next? The results of these types of poles will greatly reflect the preference in style of the voters rather than the actual capabilities of the composers.
Composers should be matched up with people with similar style and similar skill. This will make things interesting and produce the most accurate outcomes. It's possible under this system, but completely random at the same time. I would honestly like to see a TBB v Azure poll or a Levus v Cat poll. The chances of it happening any time soon? Slim, since all this system is doing is throwing random numbers at random names (well, not compeltely, but you get my point).
Pairs should be nominated instead of individuals. I know this will result in many many different combinations, but it can work as long as a pair must get a certain number of noms in order its subsequent poll to be started, around 5 or so, so as to prevent ties and such.
Although I voted, I really don't feel like talking about it since it was a tough decision, and for the wrong reasons (see above words).
Also on-topic, I like where next week's round is headed. I'm potentially paired with two of my Mario Paint idols (Adolf and Geoff), both with similar styles and history to me. Now THAT'S what I want to see, even if I predict my own loss either way.
I would prefer Geoff, but with Adolf and I in the lead already and with some additional noms for this week from others, I'm just going to keep it realistic and keep us in the game.
+3 Me +2 Adolfo
... That gives me a new idea. The potential competetors should decide the matchups. Though I'm not sure how it would work, I think it also has some potential.

It has appeared that we are not necessarily comparing the composers themselves and their skill overall, but rather the individual pieces they have made. Notice how it lists the songs names along with the composer. For this reason, I feel that whenever you are in the rounds, it is saying, "You're up. Put your best act on as this is the only take you have and anything previous means nothing to those who are judging." "May the best composer win!" No, it is, "May the best song win" Barring your clearly reasonable misconception, I think your idea is a good one. I feel as if the participants would get more out of it if they beat a person rather than beat a specific song. In picking my song, I knew that I had to at least get close to TBB's style while still putting my best foot forward. EDIT: Are we going to try to compare Weird Al and Bach next? The results of these types of poles will greatly reflect the preference in style of the voters rather than the actual capabilities of the composers. In the end, it comes down to a popularity contest, no one can help it. Weird Al wins every time.

Excuse me for not realising that the "Weekly Composer Challenge" was actually a comparison of songs (not to be bitter, but come on).
Why is this competition structured as it is? To go along with the misinforming title, here people nominate Composers, not songs, yet vote on songs, and supposedly not composers. I approve of your choice to use as close to a SNESMP style song as possible, but why should you, master of dickspeed, have to do that? Well, you didn't HAVE to, but you felt like you should just to keep things as fair as possible. Am I the only one who finds it a bit stange that the PARTICIPANTS are the ones balancing the game rather than the rule-makers?
Too similar to song of the week IMO, though with even less of a level playing field (all styles AND all time periods rather than just the former).
My last idea still stands.
