Not sure how many of you are familiar of Game Grumps or of Master Sword's remixes, but I thought I'd show off the Super Mario Paint "techniques" I used because funsies.
The biggest example of what I did is that, since this is a freaking techno remix and there's so much going on, I needed to make the melody louder somehow but I hadn't dickspeeded enough at the beginning so I couldn't volume control, so I doubled the melody over by also double-flatting a full step above, if that makes sense. It's a little crazy, but it actually works. I also used what I like to call "Every Single Note Boat." I didn't need to name it but I wanted to. I actually originally did this as a joke in another composition but I decided to try using it legitimately and holy cannoli is it insanely amazing. Basically it's the loudest snare sound there can be because it's a boat on every single note. Except in this instance. Because I didn't want the lengthy A-C# sound this time. So it's not Every Single Note but whatever ;p And finally I made Pig sound like Dan Avidan gargling water. That one might be my favorite. Of course I did all kinds of other little things like the gameboy "echo," the boo fake-resonance, using yoshis and faces to make "speech," and the gameboy-car blend (it pained me not to use the car as background organ sound like I usually do), but none of that is exclusive to SMP. But I like to have fun. (:
