Sure, there's a lot of people fussing about soundfont changing, making mario paint less limited, and how it doesn't take any skill at all. It's really getting annoying. The reason I started doing mario paint because it was simple to use, but you could still accomplish a lot with it. We've got such limits as the note range (somewhat surpassed with satoshilyish's soundfonts and higher octave notes), notes per beat (again, somewhat surpassed with dickspeed) and the limited sound options (AGAIN, somewhat surpassed with soundfonts and the 4 new instruments in MPC V 2.0). And with all these efforts to make it easier to make songs, I for one, couldn't care at all. Let me be honest with you. When I make mario paints, NEVER do I intend for a piece to be regarded as amazing, making a great song with the limits of mario paint. Maybe everyone here may oppose what I'm about to say, but I just want to make a good sounding piece, something that's enjoyable to listen to. No skill, no cleverness, just something you can enjoy listening to. Lemme give an example. A lot of people hate the band Dragonforce (and they've said these exact reasons) because all they do is play fast to try to sound good, and try to be act cool, etc. I don't hate them because of that. I just don't like their music. It's the same if you like something. I don't want my pieces to be praised for the amount of skill I have, rather, ONLY for how good it sounds. So for all I care, make mario paint limitless. Make as many notes per beat, make the range limitless, etc. I don't care. there's only one thing I don't want changed. Soundfont changing is fine. But I don't want there to be too many sounds to choose from. What we have now (19) is enough. Only being able to have some sounds is what will prevent MPCs from sounding exactly like the original song.
tl;dr version: Make mario paint limitless. I don't care.

100% percent agreed. I can't believe people think soundfonts, dynamics, and dickspeed take less skill and detract from the original feel of the program. Have they even tried doing this before? If they want classic Mario Paint, they can watch some TomBob. If they want a limited Mario Paint Comopser, then HCBaily is for them. It still amazes me how they manage to get all of the fans (although to be honest most of HC's fans are because of his awesome Let's Plays) with amazing composers like banjario and kacelano have only about 50-60 subs.

You already know my view on the matter. The only reason why I don't just go all-out and start doing full MIDI compositions is because I don't want to 'cross over'. I remain one of the most subbed MPCers, from a combination of 'faithfulness' and my YT age. I stick with non-dickspeed pieces, and tend to stay away from dynamics. I have taken to using soundfonts on a regular basis. Here's my problem, to be completely honest: The market has become saturated.
Gone are the days when these half dozen people using this amazing PC simulation of MP's composer features were the gods of all things 8 bit and musical. You know, the days when it was me and Cat, HCB, the old crowd; we were lapped up like honey because we were the only thing available. I don't ever really recall getting a comment about 'cheating' until my MMPR theme, and then every 5th comment was "This isn't hard, use the REAL Mario Paint, cheater". This was about the time when TBB actually STOPPED making MPCs. Maybe his subs just got disappointed and were looking for more godly compositions using this simple program. Instead, here's a dozen or so people trying to steal views from the REAL talent!
My first response was to simply reply, "Then YOU do one," to all the disgruntled watchers. It slowly grew to a head, though, to the point where I start getting into flame wars -- which I consider myself so far above -- with these idiots who are convinced that I have less talent than SNES MP users.
How the hell do you figure? I have 2 more notes to worry about plotting, 3 more instruments to consider the use of (more with new soundfonts), dynamics, tempo... they refuse to see that, simply because the system is better-sounding instantly decreases the difficulty tenfold or so.
So, whatever, I don't really care anymore. I will say, I am slightly quite egocentrical. Yes, I want views. I want to break 2 million, because then I'll know that I became someone, before I even get into my true adult life. I want my screenname to be recalled with same familiarity that people like CliffyB's does (did, actually, he switched it recently), or Fatal1ty. I wish to, one day, have the MPC community grow to something of no small size, and standing there at the top will be my name, and Cat's name, and the rest of us whom leaped at the opportunity to make some music. Call me selfish. I do. But I am not going to be demeaned by people with the apparent grammatical skills of a 10-year-old (which they sometimes are and usually aren't), who have themselves done apparently nothing of any value whatsoever. Period.

Everyone's opinion matters, who are we in this community to judge anyone based on how they want to compose using the program? We should simply ignore the trolls who envy those willing to make it a hobby of theirs to create music through this program. No harm in exercising that lovely "delete comment" feature in our YT account, no? I personally want to continue improving on what I've begun with. I've reached the point where limitations are almost non-existent (dickspeed, soundfont use, etc.), yet I won't stop going back to the default soundset if I feel like something simple. If all you want to do is keep it simple, then by all means, stick to what you're good at, if people want to make the most epic composition that takes them months to complete, then go all out. If people just waste their time and troll our vids, then they're wasting their time and serve no purpose other than proving their idiocy to the internet.

winterbourne just took the words right out of my mouth. Trolls are trolls, and as annoying as they are, they're still out there. Here's something: On my Welcome to the Jungle video, someone commented saying "I could do a better version". I let the other viewers take it into their own hands. Someone came back to the guy and said "I wanna see you try". The guy accepted the challenge. Then, someone else came on and said "A Mario Paint-off?" Very funny, guys. People like the guy who said he could do better make me sick. That's why I don't reply to their comments, instead letting the other viewers handle it, and stepping in only if it gets out of hand. I've blocked a few users for similar crap.

I have quite a lot to say, but I think a mere statement is suitable for the time being.
The tone quality of a composition is based on the skill of the composer.

I tend to not use Soundfonts mainly because of the negative feedback. I get a lot of it.
However, I don't mind other people using it. I just hate it when someone comes on to one of my earlier videos which has the original soundfont and says *insert individual's name here*'s version is better. I look up that person's rendition and it's a different soundfont, so there for, in my opinion, are uncomparable.

Yep, you nailed it, that has been my opinion my all along.
I really only care about the finished product. I don't care what I have to do to get there just as long as it sounds good. No effort? No skill? No, I make it look effortless, but I pour so much into my work that some people don't understand. Now of course, I don't go crying about that if all of my efforts were for nil, but I just shut up and try harder the next time. The advances in MPC don't make it easier at all, but it just forces me to try harder. I know if I don't deliver with what some people think makes it easier, then I am a total fool for not testing my limits. Dickspeed: 'Why didn't you include this? You certainly had the room didn't you?' 'Now if only you put this there and swapped this with that then it would be good, but since you didn't do it, then you suck.' Soundfonts: 'Well certainly with all of those different instruments you could have found something that works.' Things that would have been acceptable then are no longer passable now.
Luckily, I have never received one those, 'I could do better,' comments, but when I do, I will accept them. I will say, 'I would be glad to see you put up a piece that is of higher quality then mine. Because if do, then I will enjoy it much more than I do my own. Go ahead just try and impress me.' I like competition, it always brings out a person's true colors. Now it is a question of whose colors are the most beautiful. I hope it is mine, but if it is the others, then I certainly get a masterpiece. When they mess up in theirs then I know I won.
When I started MPC, I wanted to make music that, not only I, everyone would enjoy. I am not there yet, not even close to there, but I certainly know that I all of my efforts meant were not for nil.
Note: One of the things I don't like about rants, I say things that I may soon regret
Note 2: I do actually like tombobblender. I like the way it sounds.

Compared to my egocentricity? Right. I'm getting a little edgy from all these rants.

Just about all I have to say has been said. Tiger and Winter both said just about exactly what I was going to say.
