Alright, post here if you have the program working with sound, like I do. I can vouch that it works fine on my Vista Home Premium machine (didn't install SP yet) with DirectX 10.
(The only reason I put this topic here was because I just read through the other one, "No sound", and saw a lot of people having problems. I would like to know who actually has it working.)

Windows Vista Home Premium.
DirectX 10. Works fine except for the fact that I can't change soundsets.

Mine works now, after I compiled fluidsynth myself.

Did you add the SoundFont already, Heat? Does it contain spaces?

Nope no spaces. It used to work. But now it doesn't.

Very odd. Well, I guess this is yet another glitch report.

No luck for the different fluidsynth's that I've tried. I'ma go compile this for myself now... 1/30/09 SUCCESS! It now has sound!

Mine doesn't work! What Fluidsynth do you think I need to install?
ERROR: The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect!
HELP!

I remember Lihyahm posted a link to instructions about how to compile fluidsynth for yourself... but it takes up about 1GB of disk space.

After I installed the DirectX SDK I installed Visual C++ 2008 and moved "dsound.lib" to the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Lib\" directory and "dsound.h" to the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Include" directory and it worked without having to compile fluidsynth!
Windows Vista SP1 DirectX 9.0

Your welcome, I think the problem is that Fluidsynth can't find the .lib files and .h files that it needs to work. On my desktop PC, instead of installing Visual C++ 2008, I just created the Microsoft SDKs folders and put the "dsound.lib" and "dsound.h" files there. But it didn't work, so Visual C++ 2008 and the DirectX SDK must be installed.

*works with sound*
However it doesn't properly recognize soundfonts...

I decided to use the AMS - Experimental Version. It recognizes soundfonts and is less glitchy.
