You know those four extra notes in the original soundset? How do I increase the volume of those four notes so that they sound louder? I see a volume bar when I'm working on the new instrument section, but it doesn't move when I click and move it.

I just copy the instruments into the preset again as many times as I want. It's not great, but it works.

Ya, you can put extra layers of the same instrument in a preset, but this can also muddle sound sometimes if you put too many. I usually make stereo versions of presets by adding the same instruments in pairs then panning one -50 and the other 50. In all of the soundsets I have made so far, the most I have used is 4 pairs or 8 layers. In addition, to this you can control volume in the preset global field called attenuation. Postive values make an overall all volume decrease, but you can also use this field to increase volume a bit by entering negavite values. Around -30 db is about the max that I think you can attenuate the volume. The sound is always louder in Vienna, and sometimes my presets are too loud to even try to play in vienna at max volume without rupturing my ear drum, but in MPC they volume will be substantially lower.
