Ok, so I know this sounds totally crazy, but I think we should make a monthly magazine for the members of the MPH. I saw the suggestion for the composer of the month thing, and I figured we could compile that and some other things into a little newspaper/magazine and put it as a PDF on a thread.
We could put in things like the Composer of the Month, contests, SotW and SotM Winners, maybe member-submitted comics, editorials, upcoming events and highlights.
I took Computer Apps I, so I'm pretty familiar with Word and Publisher if we did decide to do it. Let me know if it's a good idea and if anyone's interested in being a contributor or something.

Sounds interesting. I have my fair share of experience with using Adobe Programs - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and whatnot. InDesign and Illustrator being my forte as I forget how to use Photoshop quite easily. If this goes through, I'll certainly help to some extent.

It's a good idea, and if executed correctly, it would help a lot with motivation on the composers' side.

Is this gonna be like the Smog? I'm excited.

Is this gonna be like the Smog? I'm excited. Um, sure I guess... Except it's not going to be a web site like that. We'll probably just convert it to a PDF and upload it to some website and put a link to each issue, or if it's under 1 MB we might just attach it in a post...

I'd be so up for contributing. I've been trying to get motivation to write movie reviews; this just might be my motivation.

As far as reviews and stuff go, I'd be glad to write some reviews of compositions, and maybe some articles

Ok, so we have movie reviews, composition reviews, and "maybe some articles " (personally I'd like to see an "Ask an (Eata)Ninja" column... >_>) Anyone else with some ideas?

I think something like The Smog would be a better idea. Not everyone uses PDF's. Not necessarily like the smog, but textlike format.

On thinking about this, I don't really like the idea of a PDF format, people don't always like to download things as PDFs, me for one, yet there are some who do. I feel that if it were more on like a website type of thing, it'd have more success, just like an online magazine, with the option of having a PDF file. Best of both worlds.

Maybe I'm taking this the wrong way but...what? Ever heard of "Ask a Ninja"? askaninja.com/Yeah I know, it was a dumb joke... But about web page format, I don't know if I can do that... I was just thinking about like making it in Word and exporting as a PDF that opens in Adobe Acrobat Reader or something... You know, the thing that pops up in the dialogue box like this: People can download it if they really want to but most likely they can just read it. If someone is good with web design or has a site that we can use, let me know and then I guess we can do it that way...

I have to say, this is a valiant effort, and would've been an amazing idea half a year to a year ago...
But I'm gonna be honest, and this really seems like an effort in vain to me. The Smog is successful because Pokemon always will be. But MPC is a program that many are losing interest in, and unless a massive burst of motivation happens, and people can really follow through with this, I don't know if this will work.
I'm not against it though; just a bad time to get the idea.

Perhaps I could do like a Composer Interview section?

I'm not sure how this will go, everything in the community seems to die after the first week :/ It still could work though

I say go with it! I know I will definitely read it, have nothing against promoting it, and would be more than willing to contribute an article if asked.

Hmm, this isn't a bad idea.
Material is a bit dry right now though, but if you can find meaningful things to write about, and actually get it done, then I say go for it.

seems like a complete waste of time considering the current state of the community Must say, this is a good point. The MPH has certainly lost a lot of activity recently... I mean, the idea in its self is cool, but I'm not sure it'd really work out.
