As you may realize, tournaments are beginning to become more popular. And why not? I mean, it's a competition (filling the void of the fact that MPC Contests on Youtube have been sluggish as of late), it's interesting to see who moves on, and it creates a ton of amazing pieces all at once. It's a wonderful idea.
But I was thinking lately, what if there was a 'For Fun' tournament. Not 'For Fun' as in "OMG, you all did sooo great so you're all winners!". It's still going to be a competition. However, I wanted to make it more relaxed. Something that can fit in peoples' busy schedules. Something that can get a lot of people involved because if the ease.
There is a need for more serious tournaments like Ninja's and Brongaa's, because they're more intense, and are more interesting to watch. However, I just thought it'd be fun to host a tournament myself, and host it so that it will be more relaxed.
Now onto my actual idea.
I'm going to use the same basic setup as the other tournaments. Have brackets, wild card possibilities if needed, randomized match ups, judges the works. However, there will be some differences. Mainly in how the songs work.
1. As the name of the tournament suggests, the songs will be stress-free (hopefully) and painless to complete. This tournament is ment for just having fun, and not to challenge yourself to new heights etc. I will choose easier songs. I might still try to have it progress in difficulty, but not to the level of the other two tournaments.
2. Instead of just giving a set song you have to do, I'm going to make a set list of songs (the size depends on the size of the tournament). Then, each match up will choose the song they want to compete on from the set list. This will go on a first come first serve basis. As you probably understand, there needs to be some sort of mutual agreement in choosing songs, so I recommend you discuss your song choice over with your partner. Unfortunately, I'm going to need consent from both people before I assign the song to you. I have to prevent the chance for one person to just pop in and choose a song for both of them.
I'd really love to include various soundsets, but I just can't think of a sensible way to do it. If I allow a free-for-all, there could be a strong bias toward people who end up using the original, because customs have somewhat fallen out of flavor. If I have people agree on the soundsets, it could restrict custom users anyway, because many people primarily use the original, and unless they're feeling adventurous, things could get a bit hairy with that. So for right now, I'm going to use the same rule that the other two are using regarding soundsets, and only allowing Original and Mochi. However, if someone presents a logical idea to add in custom ones, I'll be happy to change this.
The difficulty is pretty much the main difference in this.
So, what I want to know is if anyone is interested in general to participate. I don't know when I'm going to start this yet. I think it'd be a good idea to wait a little bit until less people are in both of the other tournaments, but the songs also might be easy enough to do on the side.
So right now I'm going to wait, unless urged otherwise.
So yeah, interested? Any more ideas? :B
