Ok, I don't know if this is already a contest, but I had an idea that we should do like an "anti-dickspeed" contest... Like the only rule is an incredibly low tempo limit... something like 100 or 150
I don't know if this would catch on or not so I'm posting it here to get some feedback...

Sounds like a good idea for a contest, but 100/150 would be a little too slow, don't ya think? I think maybe 100-500 should be a good enough limit (Kudos to anyone that can make a song entertaining with a 100 bpm tempo ) The only song that I made that should've been made for 200 bpm was the SMG Story theme, but I had to speed it up to 2000 for the trills. Otherwise, something like this has been done before by Friedfischer: The tempo is 360. I dunno. If you wanna keep the song slow for this contest, then around 100 should do, but 100-400(min.) or 600(max.) should just about do it. Good luck with this!

The rule for earlier contests used to be less than or equal to 1000. I think 100 is too excessive, though 1000 is still fairly reasonable for a song. Interesting idea for a contest

I like this idea, but I support what brianLED said. 1000 is just fast enough for a "traditional" feel of MPC, yet slow enough as well. (I'm bad at explanations ). It'd certainly be fun for someone like me who doesn't compose at those speeds anyways.

That would be interesting. I agree with Youne and Brian. 1000 or less sounds fine.

Yeah I suppose 1000 would be good. The highest I've ever done a song was 1000, so that's why I was figuring around 100-150. In retrospect, that low would be pretty boring....
I don't have many subscribers, so this wouldn't quite get alot of attention if I started it... Anyone else wanna give it a try?

Honestly, I think 750 could do even better. If you want it to be anti-dickspeed, it means you shouldn't have a reason for louder/filler chords, the song shouldn't be that fast, etc. Half the tempo works the same way. I dunno, it's your contest. I just thought, when I saw anti-dickspeed, I thought it meant slow song

I wouldn't worry about a high/low subscriber count. What makes a contest successful is participants, not observers. Just make sure there's a solid number of people that will participate, get the word out via PM's, Chatzy, and other ways you can advertise, (News fader?) and interest will come.

Love the idea. However, I think 1000 is still too much. At such a tempo, you can easily put instruments like strings a beat earlier or later and there's still almost no difference to hear. It doesn't work with most instruments, but especially if you want to allow custom soundsets you should consider this possibility. My personaly suggestion would be tempos up to 600 or 700, since tempo changes would still allow sixteenths as well as triplets. Not in the same file, though...
Anyway, please, don't start the contest before it's really planned out. I already kinda feel as if most people don't have any motivation to participate in any contests... I really like the idea of this one, so don't let it be bad due to the sheer lack of participants

I support this, as long as it allows both recreations of other songs and original compositions. And I say 750 should be the max. I rarely go above that anyway.

Great idea. I think 500 should be the limit. But that's me ;D

My personal vote would be for 1000 or less, but I wouldn't mind down to 500 or less (seeing as that's what the limit tempo was supposed to be anyway). Just nothing lower.

What about 358 for the limit?

What about 358 for the limit? That's horrible. 750 is good enough.

I started a song for the contest. :3 Hope it will be ready in time for whoever decided to own it.
I'm starting to like the 750 option.
