It must be getting confusing having 3 different threads for rules. As per request, I'm making the official rules thread.
Ignore any other threads about rules. These are the official rules. If you're new and you're looking for the rules, read here.
1: Your post must be more than 3 words -
There have been posts like this. They're less then three words, sometimes just "lol" or "I agree". These are plain and nonconstructive. As well as this, please try to put more thought into your posts.
2: Please use correcting spell if you can help it -
Spelling incorrectly on purpose seems to have become a fad as of late. It was funny at first, but it can get annoying. If you're not able to spell correctly for whatever reason, I can understand. But for those that are more then capable of spelling correctly, please do so. This also includes all caps, yelling through the written word is stupid and immature for whatever reason. So please don't type a whole post in all caps.
3: Do not try to aggravate other users in any way, if a user appears to be angry, just ignore him/her -
Flame wars seems to have become more common. People getting into arguments. If the other person says something that offends you, do not try to offend back. Just report it to an admin/moderator and they will consult this person. If we find a flame war going on, we will give everyone involved a warning of 10%.
4: Please do not post in a topic for the sake of posting in a topic. You post must contribute to the topic -
It seems that having a high post count makes you cool. I'd just like to say that it doesn't. If you're posting in a topic, please try to contribute to the discussion and don't try go off-topic. If a topic is about something along the lines of "what's your favourite video game?", please try and stick to that subject. Do not start talking about "what internet browser is your favourite", leave that for another topic.
5: Please do not double post (posting after yourself in a topic) unless you're bumping -
This rule may confuse some people. Double posting is where you post, and you post again after yourself. For instance:
Post 1 is by Jack.
Post 2 is by Fred.
Post 3 is by Jack.
Post 4 is by Jack.
What "Jack" did is he double posted with post 3 and 4. If you have anything to add, please use the edit button if you have anything to add. Bumping is the only exception.
6: Please do not bump a topic until your topic hasn't been active for 2 days -
Everyone wants their discussion to be active and known. But from now on, you must wait for 2 days of inactivity if you want to bump your topic. This is self explanatory.
7: Please keep your name as something recognizable -
Name changing appears to be popular. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's annoying. If you DO change your name, please keep as something recognizable.
EG: PhantomTaco to SandrewTaco is still recognizable. However, changing it to the name of your favourite character or your favourite word can confuse people. So please keep your name as something recognizable.
8: Please try to post in the correct area -
This shouldn't need much explaining but I'll go ahead anyway. Please try to post into the correct board. If your topic is about showcasing your latest Mario Paint video, please go to the release boards for that and not the General Mario Paint discussion boards. If you can't find a board that you think it'll fit into, go ahead and put it into General Board. If a moderator or and admin feels that you posted in the wrong area, he/she will move your topic.
Please also note that some boards have sub-boards.
9: Please do not post in old topics -
A topic which has not been posted in for over a year would be considered dead. Please refrain from posting in such thread. Please start a new thread if you see it fit instead.
If you have any suggestions for any rules, please ask in the suggestions board.
