Since I can't record sound properly with CamStudio, I do it the following way: (i don't know of anyone else that uses this method, to my surprise, since it's pretty effective)
I use Audacity to record the audio, removing all skips in the process. I use CamStudio to record the video; since it's not recording audio at the same time the lag does from awful to minimal. I sync it with Windows Movie Maker. Just as long as you set the Audacity to Stereo Mix, I have never had problems. I dunno if this would work for everyone or not, but it's something I'm throwing out there.

I actually do something very similar, only I use Growler Guncam for video, Cool Edit for audio, and that way I can ensure that the different segments of the audio are seamlessly integrated. (video is less important)
Although, since the release of MPC v2 that's less important..

I used CamStudio before I switched to Mac. It worked most of the time, but nearly all video editing applications except the Windows Movie Maker refused to work with the recorded video - and the Movie Maker itself seemed to reduce audio quality if I didn't store the video as wmv... ah, and another thing: CamStudio couldn't capture my sound signal, so I had to connect my speaker output to the line-in to record the sound, which was quite weird because I couldn't listen to what I recorded.
I once tried to adjust my audio to avoid YouTube's ugly volume adjustment feature, but I didn't find any simple Mac application for doing this, so I hope with every upload that YouTube doesn't do bad things to my audio signal - but some time, I will buy Logic Express to do real advanced audio editing stuff 8).

That´s exactly how I record my MP videos since day 1, I capture the audio with soundforge, normalize it, then capture the video with camtasia studio and synch them in Windows Movie Maker, that way is easier to avoid clicking sounds between transitions
