Hi folks,
here's a second beta release of the AMS. I'm able to provide a Windows version and a MacOSX universal binary version. Perhaps there will be a linux version, but I didn't have to time to work on this yet. I release this beta version because some of you folks downloaded the experimental version I uploaded to Mediafire which was not intended as release, so I wanted to have a real beta version out. I've also added some fancy new stuff and wanted to show it .

Installing
The Windows version should work fine with the included fluidsynth.dll. If you don't have sound, please REPORT IT so I can consult the fluidsynth mailing list on this issue. If you don't have sound and don't want to wait for me to fix it (if that is possible at all), you might want to compile the fluidsynth library by yourself. Here's a howto that helped me with it:

The Mac version comes without fluidsynth. On MacOSX, fluidsynth is currently available as an unstable package via fink. You can also compile it from source. See the README file that comes with the Mac version for detailed instructions.
Changes and new features
Here's a list of changes since the first beta:
Let's have some detailed information on the new features (as I was too lazy to update the manual I wrote for the first beta):
MPC file importing
This is accessible in the File menu. You can import any MPC file in the AMS now (if you're encountering an error while importing a file, feel free to send me the file so I can reconstruct the error). Note that any "low A glitch" will be imported as a real low A.
Bookmarks & Speedmarks
You can use speedmarks for altering the speed within a song. Speedmarks are shown orange above the chord, bookmarks blue. On the scrollbar, both are shown blue because I was too lazy to change this yet. You can now add a bookmark by clicking above the chord. Hold Shift or Ctrl (Windows only) for adding a speedmark. The new tempo a speedmark sets is shown when you hover over it with the mouse. You can erase both bookmarks and speedmarks via right-click.
Global volume changer
I think this is a really useful feature. If you click and drag the mouse below the violin key, you can change the volume of all visible chords at once. Note that the volume of the chords that aren't visible it not changed by this.
What's about to come
Features I want to implement but that aren't implemented yet:
- navigation with the arrow keys
- deleting and inserting chords in a song (especially removing empty chords at the end)
- an alternate playing animation (with static chords that change when mario reaches the last visible chord, like in the MPC. The hopping Mario will stay, of course). This is needed for dickspeed songs, because the current animation doesn't look smooth with fast tempi.
- merging songs (for multiple MPC files)
- perhaps some more volume editing features
- fixing the SoundFont management. This drop-down-menu is a mess, and the file management has some bugs.
- anything I have forgotten here (please remind me )
