HI!! Since no one seems to want to record for me I've decided to start an Extraordinary Musician Convention!
This is part one of a three-part contest I've devised inside my head!
This part may be the hardest! Part 1, is create a new soundfont! But here's the catch, you must choose a theme.
There are three themes, Rock and Roll, Smooth Jazz, and Classical Orchesta.
Rock and Roll must contain an Electric Guitar, a Bass Guitar, a Full Drum set(executed through the boats and mushrooms), and the rest are your choice.
Smooth Jazz must contain a Saxophone(alto or tenor, your choice), a Bass Cello, and then either a Jazz Flute or a Jazz Drumset and the rest are your choice.
Classical Orchestra must contain a Violin, a Trumpet, and... um... hmm... a clarinet! Yes that would be nice! But the rest are your choice.
Now, one MAJOR rule! There is no extensive Vibrato! And by the way, for all you geniuses who are great with words, that means there can't be tons of vibrato. Some vibrato is allowed.
No posting soundfonts that already exist! Must create your own.
Post here if you are entering, and the deadline is 1 week from today. When your soundfont is done, post the download link here, and I will judge it.
Thank You!

None of these themes fit my current mood...oh wait, didn't I do one of these already? Oh, I see. Although I'm sure I could turn Mario into one...ahh, but I think the singing suits it finely. oh, now that just totally makes my set invalid. Looks like there are anti-fans of vibrato, even though its easily worked around in my set by placing the same instrument before the 0.7 second kick in for the vibrato (seriously..if the note simply held it would be rather boring) And, if you think vibrato isn't possible on a brass instrument, obviously you either haven't played one or looked into it by doing a simple search in Google for "trumpet vibrato". Lips/jaw, hand, abdomen are all ways to do it. And even Cat's Flowers have vibrato! Explain that to me! But I DID make my own! Anyway, this is kind of a setback for your contest if there's only a total of...about 4 people on this forum that know how to make soundfonts.

I must agree with satoshi on this one. This would be good contest in THEORY, but theory has a funny way of stabbing you in the back or falling apart all together. (Hmm.. don't those words sound familiar) Yo! Jazz Flute! Like Ron Burgundy! Lol Seriously, I would have liked a proper bass and sax, but I don't know how to do it just yet. Really? I do that all the time on the trumpet, don't see what you are talking about. Besides, vibrato makes everything sound better. ;D If this contest some how gets into the composing portion, I'd be happy to join, but I really don't see that happening. =/ May I just add that the purpose of Mario Paint Composer is use the instruments provided (or at least a variation of the core sound) not to see what you can put where. That is what art is about, right? Making perfection with imperfect tools.

That is what art is about, right? Making perfection with imperfect tools. I totally agree with this. All in all, this looks rather like a request than a competition .

so how many people actually know how to make a soundfont? There's Cat, Satoshi, Me.... uh....
I could do this, but I think the deadline should be longer, since between homework, school, sports and family, there is really not much time for me to work on the soundfont.

-.-" I've played the trumpet since I was in band when I was 11, and Ive never been a real 'trumpet vibrato' kind of girl...
I love vibrato, and I execute it in every song I play on my saxophone.
Vibrato is not banned, but you can't have every instrument constant vibrato! Can a piano do vibrato? How 'bout drums? No!
This is not a request! It's a contest! Contests have things called rules. That's like saying, 'Who can make Vegetable Valley on MP best' is a request.
You are not required to enter! It's just, if you think you are good enough, then put your music skills to the test! If you don't want to enter that's just fine by me. Maybe you aren't yet good enough for this?
And even if you aren't that good, this is a great way to practice!
And Satoshi, I know you are planning to upgrade that soundset of yours. Post that! And Kacelano, I know that you are working on a new soundset. Post that!
Jeez, I mean this is a contest, not rocket science!
It's supposed to be good old fashioned fun!
Enter if you want to, but if you don't, don't just post saying the rules are bad.
I'm just mad that you guys are making these crude judgements and harsh assumptions....
Sorry...
Beat...
