So I was going back through my favorites, and listened to a few of my earliest favorited MPCs, which brought up the question:
What were the songs that got you guys into Mario Paint videos?
Here are mine:
So one day, after playing Mario Paint on my SNES, I decided to see if there was any youtube videos of it, and that song was the first song I listened to. After hearing the sheer awesomeness of it, I decided to look up more Mario Paint songs, and found out that a lot of people were using Mario Paint Composer.
Some of the other songs that I found right after that video, and furthered my interest were:
The problem was most of those were oldish at the time, so I thought that MPC wasn't really an active community anymore. However, after the initial search, I looked again, and saw these two awesome newer ones (at the time):
and then
So once I discovered that people were still working on them, I started looking up more, and the rest is history. ^^ (Sorry this was so long. XD)
So, what about the rest of you? ^^

Well, I can't provide links, but the three videos that most influenced me were...
-axelrod777's Banjo-Kazooie Introduction theme -Cat333Pokémon's Uxie/Mesprit/Azelf Battle theme -brianLED's Dialga/Palkia Battle theme

I think I just looked up Mario Paint one day and found my first Blender song, MM2 Wily 1. Then I came across HCBaily's Channel and found his videos. Geoffnet, Cat, and Lolo soon followed.

I was watching Axelrod's Banjo Kazooie Intro, and I was like "I'm going to do that"

Yep, TBB's Castle 2-1 was what got me into it. That alone -- I watched it, found MPC, and promptly tried copying it XD

Tiger's power rangers, Cat's bohemian rhapsody, and Levus's TTFAF all introduced me into the world of mario paint.
But the most important one, that made me say "Screw it I'm getting in to this shit!" Was the Grimace's weldar battle, which obviously inspired me to make grunty industries.

I just was looking up random games I had and Mario Paint was somewhere in there. Honestly not sure which was the first, but I'm 70% sure it was What is Love, and downloaded it a few links later.

The first 15 or so Cat compositions, Axelrod's videos, and Levus' TTFAF.

I think it may have axelrod777's Gerudo Valley that made me actually download MPC, but all I could do was copy some sheet music from my school band. I didn't start using a midi until I saw Wierd Al's Dare to Be Stupid and I just knew I had to do it.
Now this is all about 4 months before I actually did anything that was close enough to posting onto YouTube. I tried Koopa Bros Battle from Paper Mario and it wasn't that bad, but I never had any intention on getting it to YT or creating an account. However, I think it was D&R's Sparkster composition that actually inspired me to create something good (relatively).
So tried and failed at a few more songs, and then I stumbled upon Super Mario Land. I was just about done it when I had to go over to England to the Henley Regata. On the last day there, I saw tEG's Spark Mandril and that just set me off ;D It filled me with so much joy and anxiousness that I just had to do something. As soon as I get home, BOOM, finished the song, created an email and YT account, and uploaded the video. ;D

I was looking around and listening to Zelda music on YouTube, and noticed Lolo's Hyrule Castle (LttP) in the related videos box. I listened to it, thought it was excellent, and moved on to look up other Mario Paint videos, bumping into Cat, Levus and TBB on the way.
I then downloaded Mario Paint Composer upon noticing the lack of "Molgera Battle Mario Paint Composer". I seem to remember thinking "how hard can it be?"... ;D

Yeah, I started watching way before I made one too. XD
I was going to do All Apologies by Nirvana, and got a start on it, but then the second original contest came out, so I thought "Why not."

TomBobBlender, definitely. I started with MarioSequencer, which was right when MPC was being released. I tried searching for things like "mario paint accidentals" or "mario paint sharps" and found one video, AngrytigerP's first incarnation of the Top Man theme in MPC. This inspired me to download MPC and give it a shot.

One of Cat's more obscure compositions got me started: Pokemon R/S/E Surfing music. From there, the main catalyst was definitely Uxie/Mesprit/Azelf battle.

Whats really odd with me is, that it wasnt a vid. that made me interested. It was actually the related videos section (and sometimes video reply) that made me think I should try it. So I tried MPC before listening to anyone elses work...

Geoffnet's Still Alive 2.0 was the one that drew me in. The first time I saw it, I was like "HOW DOES HE DO THAT?" Soon after, I noticed a bunch of other Mario Paint videos, so I thought "Why not give it a shot?"
Almost a year later and >350 subscribers, I type this instead of working on my 26th MPC video...
Life is sweet ;D

The first impressive MPC video I stumbled upon was TheEvilGrimace's Weldar Battle. This was durring the time the Sting Chameleon competition was taking place, and I ended up stumbling upon his version of Sting Chameleon as well. After that, I found Fusion Dragon Battle from Domino&Reglisse in the related video section, and that's when I finally started to post videos of my Sibelius 5 transcriptions, but they got very few views, so I got a recording program and started posting MPC videos.
