Well in MPC the notes play default at some max volume (which for the case of custom soundfonts would be dictated by Viena), and you can then only make them quieter by clicking and dragging the green bars below the notes downward. You can't make the notes louder than they play at default, at least not in MPC itself.

I feel that there is more than one method, but the one I know is adding presets to the instrument in question: 1. When you have your soundfont loaded up in Viena, click the Presets button. 2. Left-click the MPC instrument (technically the instrument preset) you want to make louder and THEN right-click it. Click "New Preset Layers" from the options that are listed once you right-click. 3. In the new window that appears, check the box next to the names of each specific instrument you find under the instrument preset in question (which you can find by double-clicking on the preset name). Click OK. You now have added copies of each of these instrument(s) under the same preset, so you see the same name twice for each one. Save it and test it out in MPC. The MPC instrument should be louder now because what you effectively did was add more layers of the same instrument files in the preset to be played on top of each other. You can do this as many times as you like. If, when testing it out, it sounds weird (like you hear multiple pitches or something), go back and check the check box of just one instrument file and test that out. Use trial and error among the choices until one of them works. The reason I say this is because for some soundfonts it'll work if you copy each of the preset's instruments at once, and others (like the original soundfont) may only allow one of these instrument files to do the job. I guess it is possible to modify the pitches of the other instrument files that could give you trouble and then add them in too, though Hope that helped!

Well then maybe it's the sound samples you are using and how they are set up. I don't know any details about how different sound samples work or how to modify them, so I couldn't tell you what's wrong. But I think the answer lies in there somewhere.
