Hi, folks. Since I'm making a game using id Tech 1 (aka The DooM engine), I thought some of you would like to hear progress, and a little backstory, on it.
I got the idea a while back while my brother was working on his first serious effort at a DooM Wad (aka Mod, P.s.- I use this word a lot, so know it) called "T-DooM: Chapter 1: The Legend of Corey", I thought I'd give a crack at it, too. My original wad was called "T-DooM: The Stupidity of Riley", but my brother got pushed out of shape because I used "T-DooM". So I changed it to "RaL-DooM".
At first, RaL-DooM was supposed to be a linear, "go-through-the- level-and-get-to-the-next-one" type of game. It was planned to be 38 levels, including a bonus chapter and hidden ending. I was halfway through finishing level one when I lost interest. So, I put it on the shelf, and went to play "Banjo-Tooie". Then, it hit me. I want my game to be a hub (A world where you can travel back and forth between levels. Think Banjo-Kazooie. )! So, I cleaned up my game, and basically started fresh.
The final version of my game will consist with nine worlds, of various locals and themes. It will be a platform, puzzle, first-person-shooter (Think if Banjo-Kazooie met Duke Nukem). Each world will have a boss, and be quite large. More info to come on this as I think it up.
So, here's some progress on the game:
- Riley: Coding done, but I need to do his sprites. (30%)
- Weapons: Coding done for most, need to impliment the sprites. (60%)
- Enemies: Mostly done, but I might add more. (90%)
- Bosses: I have a few, but they'll come as I get more work on the worlds done. (20%)
- Music: This, too, will grow as worlds are made. (30%) NEW!!!
- Sounds: Again, this will grow. (40%)
- Levels: I have actually started mapping world 2, Mauler's Marsh! (<1%) NEW!!!
- Misc.: Any other random things that help this game. (10%)
Worlds:
1) -
2) Mauler's Marsh: A heavily-polluted marshland.
- Roughdraft: 80%
- Mapping: Very low, but I started!
- Music: Isle O' Hags (G.J's Fake B-K Orchestra)
3) Musuem Madness: A museum/amusement park that is centered on the imaginary world my brother and I made.
- Roughdraft: About 20%.
4) Pirate's Point: A fishing port/pirate ship world.
- Roughdraft: 5%
- Music: Spiller's Harbor (Gold Jinjo's Fake B-K Orchestra)
5-9) I'm only telling the names and info of the first four worlds, to keep some of the game secret.
Well, thats all for now. Stay tuned for more, as I'll update often.
Also, if you feel like it, suggest a world idea for me. If I use or like it, I'll PM you that I'm interested.
(P.S.- I will NOT take suggestions for weapons. I've had too many people at my school do it, and I'm sick of it. )
Other news:
- I wonder if anyone noticed that Casualty Corp. dropped off the worlds 1-4 list.
- Sorry for the lack of MPC songs. I got so excited that I can work on RaL-DooM, that I kinda' put it on the shelf for now. Please don't hassle me too much, I'll try and keep MP alive in my world. But, we'll see, huh?
