Hello, again! Just wanted to start a forum about the father of the modern first-person-shooter, DOOM! Personally, I like the open-ended engine of the game. I'm a high schooler, but I'm working on my own game based on the engine! It's some pretty amazing stuff. Id software is a genius! Oh! And, keep a look out for RAGE, the new game coming out from id.

I've played a DOOM rom, a freeware version of DOOM 2, and a demo of DOOM 3, and I have to say...
Killing demons with a rocket launcher (or any weapon for that matter) is so much fun!

Totally, huh? Sooner or later, I'll post a demo for my game when it's ready. A new version of SkullTag (A multiplayer source-port of DooM) just came out. I played it with my brother, and it's dope! We made our own skins for it, so I like to play as the Scarecrow all the time! Let me know if you guys wanna get in the multiplayer DooM world. I'll provide all the links for the nessecary stuff. I'm glad we have a couple of DooM lovers here!

DOOM 3 was kind of a letdown. Yeah, it's scary... for about an hour but then all of the tricks become predictable.
However, Doom 1 will always have a place in my heart. I beat it on the GBA before, it was a blast. Though I prefer the Quake and Half Life series.

For all of you who own a copy of the original DooM (Or DooM 2, or Final DooM) IWAD, this is the source port you want to get the best DooM experience. It's called "ZDooM", and it runs on any Windows computer. Here's the link: zdoom.org/files/zdoom/2.3/zdoom-2.3.1.zipAll you need to do is place the DooM IWAD file in the extracted folder that contains ZDooM, and Volia! You are now playing the best DooM source port out there! Now, here are a few mods that you can play with ZDooM which can completely change the game of DooM. 1) "Psychic" is a DooM Weapons Mod (Only changes weapons or enemies, no levels) that was created by a weapons genius, Xaser. The premise is your guy is psychic, and can use different psychic abilities ALONG WITH normal weapons. It's the most advanced weapons you can have for DooM. Get it here: forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=216812) "HappY Time Circus 2" is a mod that takes place in a desolate town taken over by the forces of Pennywise and the clown world (I'm serious!). It's a very atmosphereic mod, and good for a guy who appears very little in the DooM Community. It took me almost two hours to beat, and you will need a fairly new computer to play it with no problems. Stay on your toes, and shoot all Pennywise Statues! www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=158553) "The Community is Falling 3" is one of the biggest efforts made in the DooM Community. It is truly epic and one of my favorites. In this game, you must save the DooM Community from the forces of evil communites. To help savor the story, I shall tell no more. ph33r HehzoR www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=15252Just extract the files into your ZDooM folder, and drag the wad file into the ZDooM icon. Enjoy! ... WHAT!? You don't have a copy of any DooM! Tsk tsk. But, it can't be helped. So, for all of you who don't (and those who do, too! ) Here it is! [glow=red,2,300]ACTION DOOM 2: Urban Brawl[/glow] This wad is the best there is. It is a truely epic and huge effort by a small team of people. It is a cartoon beat-em'-up, and you need to rescue your daughter, and find yourself in the process. There are multiple different endings to the game, and some are more satisfing than others. Get those knuckles ready : action.mancubus.net/ You just need to grab it, extract and click on the "Urban Brawl" icon. So, I urge you to enjoy all of these if you can! ENJOY! EDIT: For those who are wondering, I get my signitures and avatars from an old DooM Mod called "Batman DooM". "Batman DooM" is a total-converstion (aka it changed almost everything in the DooM) where you take the role of the dark knight and go on a crusade to put out the flames of rebellion created by Gotham's infamous villians, such as the Joker, Scarecrow , Penguin, Bane and Killer Croc ;D. It was made back in 1998, I believe, but is still one of the greastest DooM Mods EVER!!! Go to the Batcave, and grab your Batarangs NOW! www.mediafire.com/file/ntymimydzqz/Batman.rarJust drag the "Batman" and "Batman.deh" files into the ZDooM icon. NOTE: Batman DooM needs an older version of ZDooM, which I have included in the download. Create a seperate folder just for Batman DooM! DO NOT, at all, try to play Batman DooM in the newer versions of ZDooM! It will not work properly! If anyone wants a tune from Batman DooM (They will be in MIDI format) please PM me. If anyone wants a tune from one of the other mods, for listening or placing it on a iPod (Basically, MP3 format) just PM me, again. Remember, it is not a crime to obsessively love something. That's all for now! Enjoy, and play to your hearts content. And now, for the quote of the day. "Skippy, what's the closest you've gotten to a girl? Excluding your sister." - Ralphis, DooM Music Composer and Mapper

Oh, yes, very much so. You'd guys have to try it for yourselves to get an opinion, though. Its my 2nd favorite game ever, and its the father of the modern first-person shooter. Its just epic.

I've never really liked FPS games. I could never get used to the style and game play of most FPS games. I just choose not to play them all together. But you make it sound interesting, I might try it.

Doom is FPS gaming at its simplest. It's just going to point a to point b while occasionally looking for a key to go through a door. Oh yeah and there are monsters everywhere. It's pretty fun and simple but I much prefer Half Life and Quake.

Yeah, those are both great games, but they wouldn't exist without DooM. Sure, id Software also made Quake, and Half-Life runs of the Quake engine, but without DooM, the video game industry wouldn't be as advanced as it is today. And playing old DooM can still be enjoyable. Some of the wads people make are just amazing. Check out my earlier post to get a copy of "Action DooM 2: Urban Brawl". Don't worry though, I doesn't need DooM for it to work.
