Ooo sweet, can't wait! By Strings and Brass section, are you just saying you will have different individual string and brass instruments for the soundfont or that you have several sounds that just play at once like an "orchestral hit"? If different ones, what kinds? (just so I don't suggest any instruments you don't already have  ) |

At the moment I just have the string and brass sections. I haven't added any violins, trumpets, etc. yet

^Timpani would be wonderful.
A piano would be great too. I also have often found uses for woodwind instruments like clarinets and oboes and bassoons. Maybe some of those?

No piano because it wouldn't be better than Gallahaut's and you could just edit it in anyway
Clarinet will definitely be in as it's been absent from all previous soundfonts

I'd probably put in Oboe, or...Bassoon?
Tuba'd be nice, I don't see a bass instrument so far (euphonium's too awesome to be a bass instrument)
Yeah, Tuba...can't think of anything else 'cept that and the two double-reed instruments. Possibly a Glockenspiel, Mallets of some sort?
French Horn would be nice as well, or are you planning to include that in the brass section?

For the flute, it should be sustained without vibrato.
The flute in Cat's Symphony soundfont was kind of annoying because of that.
Anyways, whatever.

I know, but I'm having trouble finding a good sample. The one I have at the moment doesn't have the loop points set properly on some samples, so I'm looking for another. I'm also having trouble finding good trombones or trumpets. Chorium's are perfect but I can't make them stop sustaining infinitely. |

Could you put in a cello?
I know some soundfonts have a cello in there, usually for the swan icon, but I have never heard a good cello sound. I'm not sure if you already have the strings section completely filled though...

No matter what I change, it won't stop sustaining Make sure your modifiying the instrument part instead of the preset. Set the loop sample? thingy near the top to 1 set sustain thing to 100 set the hold to about 5 or 4 seconds. If it still sustains, hold it down for a couple seconds and see if it ends. |

that's too long of a hold IMO, but yeah, what he said. also you should set the release to 1 or 2. I have a tutorial on looping BTW.

Yeah I know all that, but it refused to work on those instruments for whatever reason.
Balloon got it working some how, and he gave me some amazing trumpet, french horn and flute samples, so they've been added
UPDATE
Percussion (various hi-hats, Taiko Drums, Cymbal Crash, Snare Drum and maybe more later), Timpani, Violin, Pizzicato Strings and Oboe added.
Still needs a bit volume adjustment and a few more instruments but things are going well.

I'm all for Tuba and Euphonium, but I have to admit, I'm not too supportive of the orchestra hit. I think with all the instruments we'll have, we can just make an orchestra hit ourselves with dickspeed. That and I like to have control over all my instruments... the orchestra hit may have voices in it that I don't want and will be unable to take out.
