The "String" Soundfont. My second official soundfont. compplete with 3 different string samples and a set of high strings. With Warm Pad, Space Voice, and other cool synths and sounds. This is for beta testing and I would like all critisicm (constructive only), feedback, etc. Enjoy! Okay, let's see here:
1. The file size is HUGE!
2. This might just be personal opinion, but things assigned to the star should be up an octave or something.
3. Many of the instruments hold out for waaaay too long. It often makes things bleed over and not sound as good.
4. Some (like the cat and dog) are a tad quiet and can't be heard very well.
5. Swan for guitar harmonics? I'm not so sure if that's very well placed.
6. The heart (kinda like the star but opposite) needs to be lower.
7. The mushroom is too low in the upper area of the staff. Also, the boats seem to be a little too... imposing and evil? (no, i didn't really try out the sharp and flat stuff on the boat)
8. the car just doesn't work the way I want it to in things that I've made before. It seems off-beat by the delay.
But those things aside, here's what I do like:
1. Ooh, pan flute gameboys... (not exactly my first choice, but it works well)
2. Those are some high quality sound samples you've got there!
So anyways, what I'm saying is: you have a sound font with great potential to be awesome, but it needs to be tinkered with a little more. Maybe assign the stuff differently or something.
Also, try to think about how certain things are going to be used depending on which thing it is assigned to. Like, Mushrooms and Boats are almost always going to be some sort of percussion and the heart is pretty much always used as the lower sounding one for bass lines and such. You have to think about things like that and assign accordingly.
Keep on working on that sound font!

I personally think this soundfont would be perfect for ambient remixes, hence the large amount of strings. I can turn any song into a Stickerbrush Symphony kinda thing now. ;D
However, I don't see myself replicating an OST from any of this...
