Yes, you read that correct. There are a total of 72 Pokémon games! Only one game on the list was never released in any regions while two are TBA for all regions (HG/SS). A number of games were released only in one region. The list took about 10 hours to compile. Some of the more obscure games (especially the Pokémon mini titles) took quite some time to find box art for, while some of the release dates were tedious to locate. The complete listing can be found here: buizel.net/pokemon/history.htmIf any of the information is incorrect, be sure to let me know!Edit: Added Melee! Pokémon Scramble. Might also add the PokéWalker.

Personally, separating VC titles as separate games shouldn't occur... while the list is still a good 60-something, I would (in addition to VC titles) discount first-run main Pokemon games of each generation -- IE Red and Blue (and Red and Green) are ONE title, Pokemon Yellow is a second one; Gold and Silver are ONE title, Diamond is another, etc. Those games are too similar to discount them as fundamentally different, up until Gen 3 (Team Aqua/Magma differentiation).
But I digress. Very interesting compendium, here.

I'd agree that Snap and Puzzle League don't count, nor does Picross (the unreleased game), but the pairs certainly do.

Why are Pokemon Stadium (J) and Pokemon Stadium (Everywhere else) considered 2 separate games?

I didn't know they had any PC games, other than the "Let's Play" thing.

Why are Pokemon Stadium (J) and Pokemon Stadium (Everywhere else) considered 2 separate games? Japan's Pokémon Stadium 2 was really the Pokémon Stadium that everyone else got. Japan's first Pokémon Stadium was more of a released demo, because it has 3D models of only some of the first generation Pokémon (mostly final evolutions, except Raichu).

Seen: 71. Own: 37.
Was PokeROM those really tiny computer CDs with various pokemon on them that they used to give away at Toys 'R Us or some other store like that? I have one of those (#133: Eevee). I remember that was pretty fun -- Prof. Oak had some trivia thing, and the Anime music played in the background.
If so, then I own 38.

You can't have seen 71 because three haven't even been released and quite a few are Japan-only. Have you actually seen a Battrio station or Pokémate, the cell phone application, or all of the games for the Pokémon mini? What about both versions of Project Studio, something I have never seen? I actually haven't looked to see how many I have yet. Now how many have you REALLY seen? (I'm also doubting the number that you own.) Here's my list of owned: Red Blue Play It! (Used to own Yellow) (Used to own Hey You, Pikachu!) Trading Card Game (GB) Snap Pinball Stadium Gold Silver (Used to own Puzzle League) Stadium 2 Crystal Ruby Sapphire Channel Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire Colosseum FireRed LeafGreen Masters Arena Johto Photo Finish/Playing With Fire!: Game Boy Advance Video Emerald Pokémon, I Choose You!/Here Comes the Squirtle Squad: Game Boy Advance Video XD: Gale of Darkness Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team Ranger Diamond Pearl Battle Revolution Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time Ranger: Shadows of Almia My Ranch Platinum (2 copies) I own 32 excluding games I used to own and duplicates (33 or 36 with)

I have no idea how I afforded all of these games.

Woah. Big list up there. Well, I've owned these: Pokemon Red Pokemon Yellow Pokemon Snap Pokemon Stadium Pokemon Gold Pokemon Silver Pokemon Ruby Pokemon Sapphire Pokemon Channel Pokemon Pinball: RS Pokemon Colosseum Pokemon FireRed Pokemon LeafGreen Pokemon Emerald Pokemon Dash Pokemon XD Pokemon Ranger Pokemon Pearl Pokemon Diamond Pokemon Revolution Pokemon Ranch I can't remember, but I think I've also owned Pokemon Project Studio Red. I don't know though. What was it? I remember a program on the computer where you could take pictures of Pokemon and put them on, I don't know, a poster or a card or something, with a border and stuff, and then print them out. That was Studio, right? EDIT: Ah, these are some that my brother owns too. My brother owns one or two of the ones listed above, actually... Pokemon Trozei Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Blue) Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Darkness)

I didn't mean that I've actually physically seen 71. Sorry for the confusion. The number that I've actually seen isn't actually that much higher than the number I own. And I do own 38 -- here's the list: 1. Red 2. Blue 3.Yellow 4.Hey You! Pikachu 5. Snap 6. Pinball 7. Stadium 8. Project Studio Red (PC) 9. Project Studio Blue (PC) 10. Gold 11. Silver 12. Puzzle League (N64) 13. Puzzle Challenge (GBC) 14. Stadium 2 15. Crystal 16. PokeROM 17. Ruby 18. Sapphire 19. Channel 20. Pinball RS 21. Colosseum 22. Fire Red 23. Leaf Green 24. Emerald 25. Dash 26. XD: Gale of Darkness 27. Trozei 28. Team Turbo (PC) 29. PMD: Red 30. PMD: Blue 31. Ranger 32. Diamond 33. Pearl 34. Battle Revolution 35. Explorers of Time 36. Explorers of Darkness 37. My Pokemon Ranch 38. Platinum The only really major games that I don't have are Ranger's sequel and the Pokemon TCG Game (redundant acronyms For The Win!). I've ROMplayed TCG and liked it; it's a pity I missed out on that one. PokeRom and the project studios might be my most obscure; they're used to make cards and things like that, and there are lots of pokemon images stored on each one. Blue has slightly different pictures and a differently colored layout, and also less space on the computer if I recall correctly. It's still over 80 MB per game.
