Anyone with a gamefaqs account going to submit an entry for this? I've done a couple character battles before and did fairly well (top 9 percent last time), and I'm going to give the games one a shot.
So many really tough battles, even from the very first round. Comparing say Pacman to Tetris to Donkey Kong to Mega Man 2 is like comparing symphonies by Mozart to...other symphonies by Mozart. Generally, I'd pick anything Mario, Final Fantasy, early Sonic, Pokemon, or Halo to go into the next round, but then you run into the problem that the votes might be split.
For instance, I have Final Fantasy I and II both winning the first round, but then they're up against each other, so I picked Mega Man 3 and Super Mario World to edge both Fantasies out intead. The same situation happened with Pokemon games -- R/B/Y was up against G/S/C, so D/P is the only pokemon game that I have going into the division final. I also have my personal favorite Link's Awakening (which means a lot to me) picked to make it to the division final; it might be a little optimistic, but I think it can happen.
Overall, I have Zelda: Ocarina of Time picked to win, followed by Final Fantasy VII, and Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl in my top 4. In the top 8 are Tetris, Super Mario 64, Melee, and Twilight Princess yet; it's really tough to make good decisions with so many great games. I strongly encourage you to fill out a bracket, especially if you already have a GameFAQs account; there's still plenty of time left to do so, and the upcoming contest is going to be a lot of fun.
What do you think is the best game ever?
