This uses an interesting combination of planes and Game Boys.

Even if it's a good three months old, I love using GameBoy-Car and GameBoy Octaves. They both give this clean retro feel to it.

Now that I've worked with the original a bit more...
I also like Flower+GameBoy
Also, if you mix the plants on lower volume with shyguys, and sometimes cars or planes, it can give you a more sustained string sound.

In my latest composition (which has yet to be released) I used a double-octave car/heart combo. Gives it a nice, audible bass sound.
Heart/Plane and Star/Cat are also some of my favorites.

I personally like the flower/car/piranha plant combo. Listen to it.

In a tempo of like, 3000 to say, have a line of lower gameboys with high swans. Sounds awesome.

Any combination can be really effective as long as the instruments match perfectly in range.

Oh wow, been a while since I've posted here. Here are some of the instrument combos I've really taken to using a lot with the original SF: Piranha/Plane/Heart = Awesome guitar/bass track Dual-octave Gameboys/Cars = Powerful lead, especially for guitars. (Actually just learned this one, so yeah ) Gameboy/Star/Car = Higher octaves basically demand use of the star, and it goes very well with the generic gameboy/car combo. Shy Guy/Plane = A bit quiet, but useful in some aspects. Face/Swan = Great for replicating odd percussion that the boat and/or shroom can't replicate. And that's just a few of the combos I've been using recently.

Car/Star - Makes a nice effect. If using doing harmonies in the melody, do it with the car only. Leave the star main melody only. Dog/Cat - Dog and cat harmonies. I wouldn't recommend using them in the upper register. Car/Piranha - Put the piranha up an octave. Makes a good guitar effect. Try putting flowers over the cars for another nice effect. Piranha/Flower - Like the above image, just replace the cars with flowers. Kind of sounds like a saxophone. Sounds better on notes above E-flat. Shy Guy/Coin/Boo - It makes annother nice effect. just remember to volume mute the coins and boos when changing notes. Swan/Flower - Put the Flower up one octave. A better sounding orchestra hit?
