Hi all, I know you probably think I abandoned my work on the AMS / OCS, which is partially true because I currently can't find the time for it. But I also keep reading E-Mails about bugs some people find in the AMS, and I decided to give it one more update. This update fixes a bug while saving. The AMS sometimes says "An exception of class OutOfBoundsException was not handled. The application must shut down." This is because of a bug in the SoundFont management and was primarily reported by Mac users, but could also influence the PC version. So I updated the version to 3.3 and removed the beta - apart from that bug, I'm not aware of any other "bugs" in the program - just missing features. You can download the current version for Windows and Mac at my site: flyx.org/projects/amsHave fun!

Ah, it's ok. We all appreciate your hard work, especially since you're taking your own time to do it, and because it's a free program... Again, thanks for the new version

I really like how you can change the soundfonts from right within the program. If you're trying to find a soundfont for a particular song then trying them all out would be really simple and easy. Also is there a limit to how long the song can be? I noticed you can keep going past 100, but is there a limit beyond that? Also, is there anyway to replicate the low A glitch, or to shorten the note in other words? I imported a song from MPC (which worked great) and noticed that a few notes turned up gray. What are these gray notes? My last question, is that sicne there seems to be no arranger function, would you have to edit separate clips together if you wanted to make a composition with different tempo'ed sections? Sorry for so many questions Thanks

There are tempo markers for different tempo'd sections As for Low A glitch notes, click the mute button and place the muted notes accordingly (those are the gray notes) The limit on measures... I don't think I've hit that yet.

Oh alright thanks, that really handy. EDIT: how do you use tempo markers and change the tempo of different section? Also, yeah kept adding more length to the song until it was over 1200, so I assume there must be no limits, which is sweet.

As for song length, there is no limit (at least none that you could possibly reach).
I also see that it's a problem there is no manual for the AMS. I wrote one for the very first release, but that is outdated right now. I might as well do another one, stay tuned.
About the tempo changes: Place bookmarks while holding the Shift key. You then can adjust the speed Mario should get when he passes this mark. The major drawback is, if you're testing portions of your song, Mario will not automatically get the speed of a speedmark that is ahead of the position you start playing.

Thanks, and I think a way to work around that small issue is to put lots of bookmarks even on sections of the same tempo therefore it will make sure that the tempo is at what is should be most of the time.

Wow! I just realized how great the custom soundfont thing is. Now I can take all of the best sounds from each soundfont and make the perfect soundfont for any song.

Thank you very much for squashing that bug - I lost my work a fair number of times on the old computer because of it.

The file you have selected isn't a valid Soundfont V2 file. A soundfont file should have the .sf2 extention. That's my error and I don't know how to fix it. Please help me!

I believe I've had this exact same error. It happened to me after I reinstalled AMS on a new computer, but had not moved any of my old soundfont files to where AMS knew to look for them.
If you have a similar situation where soundfont or other AMS files are in a different place than where you used to have them, then this info may help you.
If this does not pertain to your situation, then I don't think I can be of any help at all.
Good luck!

AMS copies soundfont files to this location in Windows (if this helps) C:\Users\(YourUserNameHere)\AppData\Roaming\Advanced Mario Sequencer\SoundFonts

Help me! mariopaintcomposer.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ams&action=display&thread=3566This might seem unhelpful, but the above thread shows the creator of AMS responding to a competent user that is having the exact same error message you are, and basically saying he does not know what causes it. That guy had the error when using a soundfont. Are you trying to use a soundfont? Does it work with the default MPC soundfont? I have dim memories of getting this error myself in years past, but the only recollection I have of resolving it was deleting AMS and re-installing it a bunch of times. Also perhaps try running the AMS program itself from different sources on your computer. Like on my laptop, I think it only actually works when I open it from within the zip file, while on my desktop I have to have it unzipped and saved elsewhere on my computer to work correctly. Good luck!
