ugh... dickspeed is too much counting for me you'll get used to it.... I managed to get a 'number system' for my Terra's Theme.

When does the tempo actually turn to dickspeed? Around 2000 or so I think I got it at 1500, on Knight of the Wind.

at a tempo like that it's probably not advisable to use dickspeed much cause there's an audible gap in the notes
you have to be tricky about it like how Rusty and Balloon have recently etc.

You can actually achieve "auditory illusions" at speeds as low as 880 if you do it right... Lol, old terminology.

I'm currently working on a song, the tempo for which is about 4128. Base tempo was 516.

Well, the real base tempo would be 129 or 258. 516 is a a little too fast for a regular song.

I consider anything over 550 dickspeed. I agree 100%. What wonderful insight.

I use about 800 for most of my songs, and that's so I can fit in the 16th notes (or 32nd notes, I'm out of practice.) That is in no way dickspeed. I'm only using as much speed as necessary to give each note it's own place. Dickspeed is going at least double the maximum needed speeds. For example, if you need a temp of 700 in order to fit in some 16th notes, then 1400 would be dickspeed. That seems like a better explanation.

That seems like a better explanation. no dickspeed is usually 64ths i.e. one 4/4 measure of song is 4 mpc measures; every mpc measure is a sixteenth I'm not sure you can even define what dickspeed is it's more of a technique than a tempo

I believe that it would be considered a Technique, to fit in those notes that would otherwise be hard to fit. But I would consider Dickspeed being a tempo that is ~1500 and up, mainly because its where the note sounds start to blend to the human ear if they are right next to each other. I remember seeing like a math to it once that placed the approximate official dickspeed area to start at like 1760 or something... I forget tho, lol.

To use old terminology, "auditory illusions" can be achieved at speeds as low as 880 if you can do it right... imo, the definition of dickspeed is when you use clusters of notes that are supposed to sound simultaneous, thus "breaking" the 5-note limit

huh... the way you guys are putting it, you make 2000 sound really fast. I feel as though that like 5000 is fast, 2000 is usually where i start off.

Well, it isn't that 2000 is slow.

2000 used to be lightning-fast. The average song in around 2007 was something like 500-600 tempo if I recall correctly Then 2008 hit and TaylorBaldwin, theEvilGrimace, and I began to push the limits with songs in the 2000's and then 2700's and then 2728, etc, which then resulted in more people pushing the limits, which is why 2000 is now standard.

lol it took you guys a while to start using dickspeed.... i just started like 3/4's of a year ago and i use dickspeed... it's just became so much of a standard thing now, that newcomers have to adjust to using it. then you have these crazy intricate songs that go into like... 5000... 6000... i see no need to go that high unless i'm trying to just f*** around
