Hi there.
Welcome to the Specialty Awards Voting thread. Specialty Awards are given to those who most excel at a particular aspect of a piece. The recipients of these awards will be determined in this thread. Determined by whom? That's where you come in.
To vote, you must post a reply to this thread. Here's a brief explanation of how to do this. Scroll down to the bottom of the thread. At the very bottom, there is a gray bar. Toward the right side of this bar, there are three icons that display the messages "reply," "send topic to friend," and "print." Click the little folder that says "reply."
If you are a guest, you must post a name that will be displayed to the left of your reply. For example, you can see that my name is brianLED. I strongly recommend that you enter your youtube username in the first white box.
In addition, guests must correctly identify the characters in the security check, which is below where you input your name. Do this in the corresponding white box.
You will surely notice a big white box to the left of which says "Message." This is where you write who you want to vote for. Don't worry about all the other buttons if you don't know how to use them. They're not important. After you fill in your message, click the button that says "Post Reply."
...and then your vote is in! Thanks for participating.
Okay, first, here's a list of all submissions in this contest (with title, if applicable). Some entered multiple videos, so be sure to consider each one separately (refer by title).

Now, here are the six specialty awards. You MUST provide a (brief) reason for your choice of who you want to win each award. Each award has a name, description, and key characteristics to consider to help you make your decision.
Without further ado...
1.
Name: Variety Award
Description: This award goes to the piece that uses Mario Paint sounds in the most unique ways.
What to Consider: Uncommon instruments, unusual blends, echoes, etc.
2.
Name: Development Award
Description: This award goes to the piece that is deemed to be the most well-rounded.
What to Consider: High density of instruments, the overall smoothness of the flow of the piece, good use of transitions, length (somewhat), lack of tedious repetition
3.
Name: Climactic Award
Description:This award goes to the piece that best builds up from a low opening point to a dramatic high point.
What to Consider: The emotional evocations that a piece gives you, good use of structure, dynamics (somewhat)
4.
Name: Harmonic Award
Description: This award goes to the piece that uses harmony in the most effective manner.
What to Consider: Harmony is when two or more notes sound at the same time, this award isn't necessarily for whichever piece has the most harmony (though that is part of it), but for the piece in which harmony is best used.
5.
Name: Concurrence Award
Description: This award goes to the piece that uses multiple parts at the same time most effectively.
What to Consider: Variety in melody and rhythm, how parts of a piece fit and interact with one another, countermelodies, etc.
6.
Name: Percussive Award
Description: This award goes to the piece that uses Mario Paint's percussion notes (i.e. mushroom, ship) most effectively.
What to Consider: Both consistency and variation of rhythm, this award isn't necessarily for whichever piece has the most percussion (though that is part of it), but for the piece in which percussion is best used.
There will also be a 7th Award called the brianLED Wild Card Award. This will go to what is in my opinion the best piece that did not get 5th place or better and did not win any other specialty awards.
The whole purpose of specialty awards is to enable more people to win more things. If you have any questions or things that you want me to clarify, don't hesitate to let me know; I'm willing to hear anything. That being said, consider your choices carefully, get out there, and vote. ^_^
The results of the voting are now out! Feel free to use this thread for discussion:
