I am woprking on a new soundfont. Hopefully I will have it finished by tonight or tomorrow.

My goal is to have a soundfont that is very versatile. At the same time, I want to increase realism without losing that original Mario Paint sound/allure.

I will update this post with each update. I'm going to put a table, in to explain everything that I'll update as I make it. The cymbals, since they're all on one, I'll list after the table.

SymbolSoundKey Range      "Scale Tuning"
   Mario   "808" Style Sub Kick Drum   21 A through 32 G#     Yes, A2 - G#3
   Mushroom      Digital Mod Acoustic Kick Drum     21 A through 26 D   No
   Yoshi   Digital Mod Acoustic Snare   31 G - 35 B   No
   Star   All Cymbals   45 A through 49 C#   C#6 Crash 1; C6 Crash 2; B5 Ride;
   A#5 Open High Hat; A5 Closed High Hat

  • Crash 1 synth crash phased "upward", Crash 2 created from same sample, pitch shifted up slightly and phased "downward"
  • The ride is synthesized and then digitally modded, somewhat dirty
  • Haven't made the high hats yet

I know I will ad n electric guitar (distortion/overdrive), that is for certain. I will also add a piano. Of course both of those will only have the pitches that fall within the natural range of Mario Paint/Advanced Mario Composer.

I will add all the drum cymbals (two crash, open and closed high hat, and ride) all upon the same "instrument".

Maybe I will have a bass guitar, but I am not so sure what other sorts of instruments to include. I am open for suggestions. If nothing comes about, possibly I can add another octave for the guitar?

When I get home, I will make the ones I already have planned and make a YouTube video or something.
