 Hard Rock Soundfont Request
« Thread Started on Feb 28, 2009, 11:45am »

I don't even want to try to make a soundfont. I plain ol' suck at it. BUT, with all the rock music I am doing and want to do, I was wondering if anyone would like to take a shot at creating a Hard Rock Soundfont...

1.) Overdriven Guitar
2.) Distortion Guitar
3.) Acoustic/Unplugged Electric Guitar
4.) Fretless Bass or Acoustic Bass
5.) Slap Bass
6.) Bass Drum/Tom Rack (4 or 5 Tom types)
7.) Snare and Open/Closed High-hat combo (like in Cat's Real 2.0)
8.) Vocoder (so I can kick Livin' On A Prayer's ass).
9.) Square Wave
10.) Piano
11.) Cymbal Spread 1 (Crashes and Splashes)
12.) Cymbal Spread 2 (China, Cowbell, Reversed, etc)
13.) Harpsichord, actually (it makes a good bass)
14.) Orchestral Hit (just 'cuz)
15.) Percussive/Rock Organ
16.) Male Synth Vox
17.) Choir...?
18.)
19.)

I left the bottom ones blank because I can't think of anything else.

So, would this be too difficult...? If you can't have a full tom rack or all the cymbals plotted on one instrument, then you can use the remaining spaces...

This would make my life a lot easier. I'm tired of inadequate version of rock songs. I want to get some good AC/DC out there.

I like that idea of having a separate instrument for cymbals. There are whole lot of them and I wouldn't want to be stuck with two.

What's a Vocoder? I take that is that the thing that the makes the guitar in Livin' on a Prayer sound so... well however it sounds.

What about some Vocals? Preferably the male style of it.

I don't think you want a generic vocoder for an instrument. You probably should have a Trumpet, Flute, or French Horn.

Hmm...I've thought of this myself. Add an organ and a synth wave. And maybe some cowbell :D

I wanted to make Breed for a while, and I wanted to experiment with the airplane's sound and distort the sound...but I can't find anything in audacity to do that. Some suggestions? Electric keyboard? synthesizers? Grand piano?

You could rip the samples off of Airfont, or another SF.

Great idea for a soundfont! I could use it to make Andy's Anthem from Advance Wars. ^_^

This would be useful for Tasha's Theme, or even Power Up! from AW:Days of Ruin

... of course, it would have to be done by ear...

Another generation of recreated Mega Man as well as other classic franchise themes would rock with a soundfont like this.

If this happens, that would be extremely great. Hopefully, this will evolve into many other genre-based soundfonts. (techno plz...)
