So, I made this program to edit Mario P aint Composer (2.0) text files. It was a kind o f a project that suddenly came up as I was attempting to split text files for Forest o f Hope and attempting to replace all o f one instrument with another. It seems to have gotten some positive feedback from Weejay on Skype - then I realized that I hadn't released it here ._. Here's the program.Version 1.07awww.mediafire.com/download/i7xzc5x4d7577gu/MPCTxtTools1.07a.jarVersion 1.06awww.mediafire.com/?v8y0ln1el3guqd6Version 1.05awww.mediafire.com/?9hxp085wpgskxiyPut it i n your prefs folder (don't forget to back it up first!) And double click to run it. If you can't run it, here's a useful link:www.java.com/en/download/If I do continue this, I'll be improving t he user interface, adding more functions, and making it an overall better program. Possible future features: -Prefs folder backup-More options for each function -More functions As o f Version 1.07, t he features are: Prefs Folder BackupImproved User InterfaceInstrument replacer:-Replace a certain instrument with another -Also can delete that certain instrument File splitter:-Creates 96-measure or equal-length split files when increasing t he tempo o f a song by an integer multiple. Help:-Basic help dialogues. Feedback, anyone?

oh my god.... Rehd... you are... just... oh my god...
are you some kind of programmer? this is like perfect! Can't wait for more awesome features! (if you can somehow make more notes per line with this, you will be my hero, or everyone's hero for that matter. you could enter MPC into a new era of awesome compositions!)
one question tho... what happens if you try to double the speed of a file that's more than 48 measures long? will it cut off or does it create a 2nd file?

As Rehd already said, I've used this thing and it's good stuff. The file splitter is a life saver. What file am I supposed to run? First link on his post. Download. Put in prefs folder. Double click. There you go.

It opens in winrar as a .zip. I extract two folders inside: one with a single MF file and the other with multiple CLASS files.

Balloon, when I downloaded it I got a .jar file and I just ran that and that worked fine. So make sure you are using Java to run it and don't try to open it with winrar.
Also, I love this tool that you made rehd! Everything works great and it will be very useful going forward.
Would it be possible to have a drop down menu of the text files when you are selecting them instead of having to input the name, which I am prone to forgetting, manually?

Any time I ever downloaded it, it saved as a .zip, but Jamie sent me the file over Skype and it works fine.

UPDATE: Version 1.06a has been completed! I've uploaded t he necessary file here: www.mediafire.com/?v8y0ln1el3guqd6Feedback would be greatly appreciated. New FeaturesFile dialogs! Select your file i n a more user-friendly manner. oh my god.... Rehd... y ou are... just... oh my god... are y ou some kind de programmer? this is like perfect! Can't wait for more awesome features! (if y ou can somehow make more notes per line with this, y ou will be my hero, or everyone's hero for that matter. y ou could enter MPC into a new era o f awesome compositions!) one question tho... what happens if y ou try to double t he speed o f a file that's more than 48 measures long? will it cut off or does it create a 2nd file? It creates 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc files as necessary. As for t he programmer part: I just kind o f do this for fun at t he moment... More notes per line... Well that involves hacking MPC, which hasn't been done yet; at t he same time, it seems interesting. Don't expect any quick developments on that hacking stuff, though. Balloon, when I downloaded it I got a .jar file and I just ran that and that worked fine. So make sure y ou are using Java to run it and don't try to open it with winrar. Also, I love this tool that y ou made rehd! Everything works great and it will be very useful going forward. Would it be possible to have a drop down menu o f t he text files when y ou are selecting them instead o f having to input t he name, which I am prone to forgetting, manually? Thanks for answering Bally's question there, Kace. Drop-down menu has been implemented!

Yet another update: I am currently working on v1.07, which will involve a bit of restructuring and even more bugfixing. The main window will still look about the same, but v1.08 should have an improved main menu interface.

dang dude, I still have v1.04... There was only 1 problem with it (the switching of pihrannahs). What did you add to it in 1.05, and 1.06, and what is for 1.07 and 1.08?

v1.05 added a prefs folder backup utility and v1.06 was kind of a bugfix of v1.05. 1.06 also introduced a file opening dialog so you don't have to type the name of the file. v1.07 should have even more bugfixes and a better instrument selection tool for Instrument Replacer and a more intuitive tempo multiplier chooser for File Splitter.
Though I'm currently having some minor major trouble getting things to display right on those drop-down dialogs...
