And I wouldn't whine so much if you guys wouldn't give me so much to whine about... if you think about it, you did this to yourselves. If you kick a guy in the nuts, he'll scream, and you'd probably yell at him for screaming. I'm sorry that I'm the kind of person that it's very difficult to ignore such torment. |
|
Except in this shitty metaphor, you could have chosen to stay away from the guy who would kick you in the nuts, but instead you go up to him and tell him that he should be friends with you, and he says no, then you insist that he's a douchebag and must not have any other friends, then he kicks you in the nuts, then you complain about how much getting kicked in the nuts hurts, so he punches your face in because you won't take a hint and shut up.
In case you weren't following:
Quote:| you go up to him and tell him that he should be friends with you |

Getting into Skype chats where the majority of the people don't wish to talk about MPC or whatever subject you want to
Quote: Those people telling you that they want to talk about things you don't like, so if you don't want to talk about them to go away
Quote:| then you insist that he's a douchebag and must not have any other friends |

Complaining to those Skype people that they're being assholes for not discussing what you want to discuss and insisting you're gonna make your own convo where you control the discussion
Quote:| then he kicks you in the nuts |
|
Talking poo about those people in your chat, and so inviting their wrath in the form of trolling (because, returning to an earlier point of mine, negative emotions are enhanced on the internet)
Quote:| then you complain about how much getting kicked in the nuts hurts |
|
Making a new Skype convo and coming here to MPH and complaining to everyone within earshot (including the people who have expressed a very clear desire not to associate with you) how mean everybody is being to you, and you can't understand why
Quote:| so he punches your face in because you won't take a hint and shut up |

The world of pain you've entered getting into an internet argument with me.
The smart thing to do, GM, would be to get this very simple concept through your skull: The more you complain about the issue, THE WORSE IT GETS.

|
The problem is that GM is seemingly incapable of grasping the "everyone's happy in their chats with the people they want to talk to" part. He seems to possess this notion that his chat is so amazingly awesome that people would sell their soul to get sent an invite to it (because no trolls* allowed!!!1!).

@Lih
I suppose that's the easy way of dealing with it... just shut the door and ignore the people you don't like. I suppose that does work. (no sarcasm intended, in case it seemed so)
but really, after awhile, I didn't even care about the trolling.... Actually, after awhile, it was a calm place that everyone "could" get along. it was the spamming that was just dumb, and what caused this whole battle. I just kinda don't see what it is about spam that is funny, or cool, or enjoyable; could somebody enlighten me? I in fact, took a vote, I got like 5 other people to agree that spam is just annoying as fuck. Then you guys started to piss me off by justifying your spam, then I was banned from MPH.... I'm just kinda irritated by the thought that anyone should dislike me cuz I wouldn't intentionally do anything to piss someone off :/
So the basic idea from that, is I shouldn't express my dislike for spam or try to stop it, or I will be banned >_>
@Bally
I'll try to be less annoying then I guess.... not sure how, but I'll try and find a way :/. Why do I feel like the only one teased? do you do it to others? I never see it anywhere else...

LOLWUT?! You really think that THAT'S why I made the chat??! I made it so I could keep people out that were just gonna cause problems... and whenever someone wanted in, they could join. All I did was make a chat, and people stayed there. I wanted control of the chat so I could moderate the way I saw fit (and was actually far more lenient than many others thought I should have been). It wasn't so "I could have the coolest chat and have everyone be in it because I'm so awesome"

the spam was just people fucking around and it was fun/amusing/funny (if you don't get it you don't get it really there's not much more to it then that) so we all joined in. don't take it personally. people have had a lot of fun at your expense (soz) really ie banning you for a few hours just don't take things too personally/seriously here.
also when we've tried having a big happy community chat it just doesn't work. you and the people you like to talk to are too different from us etc. and you'd usually take the resulting arguments personally. that lead to balloon and i being banned from herty's chat (because arguments are bad or something) so then we fucked around and actually caused chaos. we did that again recently but i think levi started that and it was fun.

Let's get back to talking about how we can improve the community as a whole instead of dwelling on internal squabbles. It's the summer right about now and since some of us have this season off from whatever, we should try and organize some events or something.
This isn't a competitive tournament fighting game with tiers, this is a group of teenagers and young adults (and a couple old ones probably as well) who occasionally use a particular proprietary music program (based off of another that was featured in a video game that is as old as I am) to recreate their favorite songs and make their own ones up as well.
While I know that not everybody is going to want to kiss, make-up, and all be nice to each other, that doesn't mean that we all can't be working towards a similar goal. We should be thinking about what directions our next steps as a community should take. The ceiling of knowledge for MPC seems to have been exhausted to such a high level, not to say that there isn't any more room for new techniques, new exploits, and other things like that, but it's gotten to a point where the top dogs need to scratch pretty hard to get any higher, and most of them have been dwindling down, leaving a huge decaying gap between the old masters and the new apprentices which is in danger of collapsing in on itself due to a lack of inspiration and growth (at least, that's my impression of the nature of this problem).
What sorts of things have we grown more towards over the years? Which directions would be viable for our community to expand to? Do we even want to? Is this haxxed level 9 computer player pichu ready to be cut off from life support? Or should we try and evolve it and hope for the best? Only though constantly keeping it on our team and feeding it certain berries and vitamins can we get it closer to wanting to grow up. Without our attentive care, this place won't go anywhere and likely melt into eternal obscurity. But, the question is: if we do see the game over screen, should we continue or should we return to the title screen and pick another game? Or will the ones who care about each of us that do not play this "game" turn out to be the thing that requires the most attention, diverting our priorities towards greater purpose?
That, is something that each of you must decide for yourselves. If you wish to continue, you may do that. But if you feel no desire to be here, remember that you have the free will to escape, for the doors are wide open for entry, exit, re-entry, and re-exit as well. The rest of our lives are ahead of us all. Some paths may split off, but that's okay. Even if this place decides to never revive and the stories of the great MPC-ers of old get passed into obscure internet legend, to be told to the noobs who will eventually attempt to research these kinds of things, I think that it will have been all worth it.
I remember all of the good times that we had together. I remember being the only female in the Paintasy RPG, thus allowing everyone into the caves of lust and other sexy noises (or whatever it was called. The place where we found the baby face). I remember playing Brawl with TUZL, Mandy, lite, and Jamie, calling out every 69% and spamming the up and down B moves with blue Kirby. I remember sewing the pillow that one summer, thus leading me to make a tutorial, post it on another forum, get recruited to said forum's magazine team, and then eventually get promoted to staff member. I remember when we comforted Mandy after discovering Larx's true gender. I remember being bombarded by Josh about the creation of sandwiches every time that we were both in the same chat at the same time. I remember writing the very short fanfiction about Legend and TUZL. I remember the swastikas made of swastikas. I remember when levus and that other guy (sorry, forgot your name) posted their own versions of the same song at the same exact time, with the same exact description in a light-hearted attempt to "break youtube".
While mostly all of these events happened in the skype chats (the earlier ones being in the chatzy chat), it doesn't change the fact that at one time or another, many of us were involve enough with this community to be able to enjoy their stay here. That being said, those events were in the past. The future ahead for us will likely be very different, but whichever paths we decide to take, there is always potential for a happy continuum, even if it isn't here. As for myself, I feel that I can still improve by a vast amount, despite acquiring various other freeware music programs in the past couple of years to be able to focus on. Likely I'll be hanging around here until I move out of my mom's house and get a real job, which could be a while with my current immaturity and self-esteem levels.
Whoa, I think I might have wrote a run-on essay there. o_O

i'm incredibly impressed buckyboy kept up the top work with sotw even after a tiebreaker round with 0 voters
i think it probably ended because there simply weren't very many songs being released anyway
edit: also in regard to making any sort of unified chat in skype (i think it was eataninja who suggested it), i think that's where the forum comes most handy. i would honestly be happy with having one community again as opposed to like 4 major skype chats all with people that get together because they all have mario paint in common. i'd take this over skype as a central nexus, and considering how divided skype got in a matter of months, i don't understand how anyone may disagree
